Another Roadside Attraction by 8th State Brewing. As I work through my cellar of stouts for some reason the ones from 8th State always catch my eye. Maybe it’s the hypnotic artwork or the smaller size bottles with wax? Nah, it’s the beer inside. This one has a confluence of flavors - almonds, chocolate, coffee and burnt caramel- that play nicely together. Just well balanced. Finish is clean and dry. Only critique might be that the mouthfeel is a bit thin but I think they were going for that. This one is a collab with Seattle’s Fast Fashion. Happy Wheels is a non-profit children's charity that delivers smiles, joy, and comfort through brand new toys and books to every inpatient child at all three of the children's hospitals in SC every week of the year. A huge cart is pushed to each child's room, and they get to pick their one favorite item to keep and take home. Through the passion of a dedicated team and the support of a caring community, Happy Wheels has the privilege of impacting the lives of over 400 children each week! Upstate Alliance Southern IPA; 7.1% ABV Beer is something that brings people together, and that was what this brew was all about; togetherness. That’s why Pangaea volunteered to host the Upstate Alliance brew day where all breweries in the upstate had a hand in crafting this excellent Southern IPA. For this one, we used 100% craft malt from @riverbendmalt and Ekuanot Hops from @yakimachief giving this beer notes of green pepper, pepper corn, citrus, and tropical fruits.
