It's frustrating, right?! Just recently a mom shared with me she took her twins for an annual check up... Her son, who eats orally, lives off crackers, cheese sticks and chicken nuggets 🧀 The doctor marked him as a picky eater and told her "he'll likely grow out if it, just keep offering those fruits and vegetables" 🤨 They then talked about her daughter. She has a feeding tube and mom is working on switching her to a blended diet 🥑 They are testing things out, blending things like applesauce, avocado and sweet potato, while still giving her formula for some of her tube feeds. This doctor expressed some concerns, worried her daughter may not be getting everything she needs, and suggested she see put her back on formula only. Understandably, mom left frustrated and confused 😕 Its hard for doctors and dietitians to think differently about tube feeding from how they were taught📓 I used to push back against blended diets too.
