👨🦼➡️Which sign do you like better?👩🦼 . . . I painted this w acrylic paint :3 It's been so long since I've painted. This took me 4 days. I want to talk about it! . I wanted to make this picture represent a lot of things. . A lot of people associate disability with ugliness, and something that shouldn't be talked about or seen. I painted this with the disability/wheelchair logo in the middle of pretty nature to show that we are still beautiful, and that it's not ugly or bad to be disabled. . I painted the wings on the symbol to symbolize how my wheelchair has given me the freedom to move around and get out into nature, which is super important to me. A lot of people who use wheelchairs, and other mobility aids, aren't stuck in one spot. . I painted the setting sun and the sky above to remind myself that the sun, and moon, will rise again and continue to rise. After the darkness comes the warm sun. A good reminder that I need every now and then 🐌 ❤️ . I hope that you love this painting as much as I do. I love my rendition of the sign that is being held up next to it. . VOYAGER EN VAN ET EN FAUTEUIL ROULANT ♿️ 🚐 Si un jour on m’avait dit que ce serait possible je n’y aurai pas cru 🙈 J’ai toujours été fan des vans et plus particulièrement des combis Volkswagen et ce biiiiiien avant que cela soit à la mode ! Mais j’étais persuadée que cela ne serait jamais possible de partir en van quand on est en fauteuil alors j’avais abandonné cette idée … Et puis les choses ont évolué, j’ai découvert des personnes qui avaient testé cette aventure dont ma copine Laeticia @theprinsiderbe . Alors je me suis dis pourquoi pas tenté l’aventure ! 😏 Et c’est comme ça qu’après quelques recherches je suis tombée sur les vans de Candice de chez @greenvan.fr . Certes ils n’étaient pas accessibles PMR mais ils correspondaient à mes besoins et c’est en réalité tout ce qui compte ! Et clairement ce fut un super séjour ! Même si sur le papier la van-live est à l’opposée totale de ma façon de voyager habituellement (team tout est organisé de A à Z), cette liberté de mouvement est vraiment unique ! 😍 Alors si toi aussi tu rêves de tester le voyage en van, n’hésite plus et si tu as des questions on peut en discuter ! In a world filled with reasons people can’t do things, we love to focus on those that don’t let obstacles stop them. Curt recently suffered from a stroke, dramatically changing his physical limitations. Through Curt’s healing process, he made it clear he wants a job. The job wasn’t fixated on financial gain but self fulfillment, a higher purpose, and contributing back to society. Curts aunt, Lori, is committed to helping him on his road to recovery and brings him to animal control twice a week to volunteer. Together they wash dishes, do enrichment activities with the animals, clean the shelter, and take big dogs on walks. Lori has fostered a few small dogs for us. Curt is fiercely independent, and strong willed. ‘If there’s a will, there’s a way’ is taken to heart by Curt with each of his daily endeavors, through his strong will and determination. He’s adamant about accomplishing daily tasks that may be simple to others but challenging to him. With persistence and drive, Curt accomplishes these things on his own. Recently Curt has begun to foster Orange Theory, a large dog that is undergoing treatment for heartworms. Every time we see them at the shelter they are happy to be there, and willing to do whatever task that needs to be done. Seeing the love and dedication between family members is refreshing. Their commitment and compassion for the animals and Pawportunities is wholesome and inspiring. In a world filled with reasons people can’t, be the outlier.
