Apart from the nostalgia hit, the event provided a platform (…pun intended…) to engage with the future of design innovation. Interactive exhibits, talks, tours and workshops showcased emerging technologies and sustainable solutions that are shaping London’s transport landscape. It was a lovely little trip, and I gained some great insights into the direction of urban design. It was a reminder that while rooted in tradition, London’s design legacy continues to evolve in response to contemporary challenges and opportunities. Ballast duties for Port or Bristol Authority Sentinel No. 39 today. Yes, that's right, I use my locos in the construction of my layout and for practical reasons. Key Model World Live 2024 What a fantastic day it was! I could only pick a few of the many highlights from the day, but, an 18hr round trip that was very much worth it with @ringwood_jamie making the long trek from the depths of East Anglia with me. Some brilliant layouts in the form of Grindley Brook, @endofsouthernsteam with Old Elm park with it's fantastic atmosphere in the roundhouse, Blair Atholl coming all the way down from Scotland for the very first time, 82G with many more also catching my attention. Lastly, getting to see what @rh_modelling has been working on in person with his brilliant job on 4492 aka Bittern during 2011 and the plethora of other models he had to offer which you've most likely seen in @hornbymagazineofficial. Another brilliant highlight was the Making Tracks record attempt with @pete.railnuts and they absolutely smashed the requirements to get the record. It was incredible to see all 208ft which you could never quite get your head around just how large it was the more the day went on. Was also nice to meet Jack @thejackobite and a number of other familiar faces during the day and I'm looking forward to meeting more in the future with more events in the pipeline for this year. Now then, time to get back to the workbench for another project to show you all. A few steam locomotives that got added to the fleet last year First one is this hornby Merchant Navy in the original condition, an overall nice model from hornby with great running performance, I definitely want one of the original condition early Merchant Navy locomotives though luckily hornbys reissued Channel Packet model makes it much easier to get the original ones now. Another steamer that got added is hornbys reissued Standard Class 6mt or Clan Class, the version that I have picked up is 72009 Clan Stewart which has the picked out axleboxes and the late crest on the tender, another overall excellent model and a personal favourite as I really like the Standard pacific locos. A final locomotive is an LNER A3 which is actually being used for a project I am currently doing, while this model represent 60093 Coronach this model will eventually represent 60097 Humorist which for those who may not know was an A3 that had smoke deflectors in a similar style to the peppercorn Pacific’s, once again an overall great model and nice to have one of these with the original GN style tender, hopefully my little project with this will be done soon and when done I will post photos of it. #Hornby #model #modelrailways #oogauge #merchantnavy #clan #6mt #Standard #lner #A3

More progress on the O-16.5 narrow gauge engine. More raiding of the box of spares has turned up some of water filler caps, which, even though they’re OO, are chunky enough to work in O gauge. A second dome has appeared, again made from the inner tube of dog waste bag rolls! This has been sawn to the correct length and then, using a Dremel, shaped to fit the boiler. I’ll neaten up the edge with some Milliput. The valve mechanism on top of the dome is a Peco gate cut up and paired with some spare brackets. I drilled a hole in the dome and secured it with PVA. The window frames on the cab are OO scale from a brass kit. They’re perhaps a little small, but it’s all I have to hand. The coal bunker is simply put together with plasticard and glued into place with plastic cement. This engine will only have the one bunker on the left hand side. Had a really fantastic day at Key Model World Live, @hornbymagazineofficial did an amazing job with the show. Lots of fantastic layouts, and displays. Making Tracks: Final Frontier was amazing to see in the flesh. Hard to really get a sense of just how big it is! They also secured the Guinness World Record for the largest portable model railway; what an amazing achievement and a record that will be hard to beat!
