🌬️🌬️🌬️ . . Date: Thursday 04/25/24 . Workout: Fartleks (700s) . Weather: 68° (feels like 65°) w/ 18.2 MPH winds . Clothes: Base Pace short, Swiftly tank, energy bra, luxtreme training headband (all lululemon), and Beast Goodr Sunglasses . Shoes: Saucony Ride 14 & macropillow ankle socks . Notes: Tuesday and Thursday runs are always a challenge because I have to get my HR into Zones 4 & 5 respectively. Zone 4 on Tuesdays is usually always manageable- but Zone 5 on Thursdays is more of a challenge. I usually can always get into zone 4, and sometimes I’ll tip into zone 5 but not as often as I’d like 😂. Because of this, I actually don’t mind running in the heat on Tuesdays and Thursdays because the heat helps me raise my heart rate. I mean don’t get me wrong, the heat sucks, but I like that it aids me in my runs! Today was the exception though. The wind was out of control. I felt that I was both running with and against it and it was a lot cooler than I anticipated it would be (not necessarily bad), and so I had a harder time getting my heart rate up. . . Since my endurance runs are zone 2, that’s when I need the weather to be nice and not sweltering - hence switching to morning runs at least during those scheduled runs (typically Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday). Craig and I are going out of the country on Saturday so I worked with my coach to get a lighter run schedule during my trip. We are staying near a park with a 2 mile loop so I’m looking forward to hitting that up at least once or twice while we are there! In the meantime…. however….. I need to start packing. We will be gone for 10 days. Notes: Okay. Soooooo. I ran this morning. But not as early as I would have initially liked. I snoozed on my alarm to then be woken up by Blake growling at me to go outside. I like sleep. I stayed up a tad bit late reading Emily Henry’s new book - and I need a minimum of 7.5 hours of sleep. I was pretty groggy when I woke up and knew I couldn’t run….. yet 😂. Let Blake out, ate some breakfast, and then decided to work from home! I logged in and got to work while I let my stomach settle. 2 hours later, I was out on the trail. Got my run done and I’m glad I did. It’s definitely going to be an adjustment switching back to early morning runs 🫠 but I’m gonna have to with the heat! I’ve been going to bed around 1030/11 so now just gotta push that to 930/10 and I know I’ll be on my way!! Run was good and legs are feeling strong. Notes: Got out on the trail around 10:40am. Weather was PERFECT. I know I said I would do my runs in the morning this week, but I think I’m gonna stick to the afternoons for the time being until it’s too hot and unbearable. I know if I go earlier than 10am it’ll be a little colder and I like sleeping in as late as I possibly can so yeah. It is what it is!!! Next race I have planned is the Ladies Day 8k in about 2 weeks! My sis and I have ran the last two years and it’s been awesome to see it grow year over year. The only summer run I currently haven’t planned is the Lavender 10k. I’m thinking about the Rio Grande Half Marathon - I’d like to redeem myself from last year 😂. September I have the Disneyland Halloween Race Weekend (5k, 10k and Half. October is Duke City - trying to decide / finalize a distance for that one. And then WDW Wine and Dine weekend (10k and Half) and that will conclude my runs for 2024! Notes: I had quite a busy week! After the 10k on Sunday I went home and had to pack for my work trip for the week! My boss and I drove down to El Paso on Monday and then I drove back on Thursday! I was going to play the week by ear, as far as how I was feeling. I took Monday and Tuesday as rest days. And then I ended up doing the same for the rest of the week. I don’t get to see these co-workers / bowl people all the time; I was staying up until midnight everyday. By the time I got home I think my lack of sleep finally caught up with me. I took an hour on Friday afternoon and then slept over 9 hours last night 😂. You could say I am finally feeling semi normal again. Got out for my run around noon - it was kinda hot but I had some breeze going - so that helped! I may have to do my runs this week in the morning. These afternoons are looking toasty. ☀️☀️☀️ . . Date: Sunday 04/14/24 . Workout: Presbyterian Ear Institute 10K Trail Run . Weather: 56° (feels like 53°) . Clothes: Swiftly tank, energy bra, luxtreme training headband (all lululemon), Athleta Interval Stash shorts and Beast Goodr Sunglasses . Shoes: lululemon Blissfeel trail & macropillow ankle socks . Notes: Race mornings used to make me super nervous. But now since I have so many under my belt, I don’t get nervous anymore! My sis signed up for this run too, so I picked her up on the way over to the run! The run started at Sandia Casino right by the golf course. It’s a smaller / fundraising community run, but it’s one that I really enjoy!!! Last year the run was in June, so I was initially confused when the date for this year was released - which I’m not mad…. June runs are hot and you have to start those early 🥵. There seemed to be a lot more people than last year - which was great! They do both a 5k and a 10k. Once the race started, we were all climbing uphill. I had to be careful not to burn myself out too early so I tried to take it at a nice and steady pace. The run itself is so BEAUTIFUL. We run next to the Sandia golf course and then veer into the foothills. Trail running is something else! I was able to find someone who was keeping the pace I wanted to keep - and basically followed her from mile 2 all the way to the end! Y’all. I was not sure that I would be able to get a new PR on my 10K - BUT I DID IT!!! And by a whole minute! I beat last year’s same run by almost 3 minutes! The thing that has worked best for me? Consistency and doing the damn thing. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely have a day or two where I don’t get my run done, but we all have those days. Put in the time and effort and it pays off! Notes: Another short run before my race on Sunday! I was looking at my 10k times - and my fastest time was set during a virtual 10k back in October 2021. I got my second fastest time last weekend (it was about a minute longer than my fastest time). I am hoping to get a new PR sometime this year - my goal is under an hour! But!! I also want to emphasize that getting a new PR isn’t always the goal for every run. Sunday’s run is a trial race so it could really go either way. Notes: Since I have another race / run this upcoming weekend, my week has light programming! I’m supplementing with as much yoga as I can and some walks! The 10k on Sunday is a trail run - it was my first real trail run last year so I’m interested to see if I can run it any faster…. Guess we shall see! Temps this afternoon were PERFECT! It’ll be summertime here before I know it and I’ll have to switch to morning runs - which TBH I’m really looking forward to! . I haven’t really focused too much on fueling (calories wise) - but I’m starting to incorporate it more into my runs! I made myself fuel during my half this past weekend - kind of risky since I didn’t know how the gels would sit in my stomach - WHICH they were fine! But I noticed how much more energy I had! I think it also helped me sustain my pace and keep up my endurance (in addition to my AltRed supplements). I did a gel every 5k and it seemed to work well for me, so I’m going to do that for every run moving forward! My sis and I were trying to figure out if it was feasible to make this run weekend happen. I also had a chat with my running coach so I’d get an idea of what my mileage would look like during November / December (aka my busy time of year) and we decided that we would sit this weekend out. As much FOMO as I have not partaking, I will be okay 😂. I still have the Disneyland Halloween weekend and Wine and Dine later this year so I still have a handful of Disney runs coming up. 💨💨💨 . . Date: Saturday 04/06/24 . Workout: Albuquerque Half Marathon . Weather: 37° (feels like 27°) w/ 19 MPH winds . I took it easy earlier this week since Craig’s family was in town - so essentially 3 active recovery days. I had short runs scheduled but had a harder time getting them done with the traveling we had going on during the week. I had been keeping my eye on the weather for today - my initial plan was shorts, but as soon as I checked yesterday I had to pivot and add layers 😂. The sun was out but MAN. The wind was freaking COLD. I had contemplated ditching the vest before the start, but opted to keep it and I am glad I did. Notes: IT IS RACE WEEK!!!! Yesterday’s weather was MEH. It was cold and snowy - so I am glad it was a rest day. I was apprehensive about the weather today but it was surprisingly PERFECT. Craig’s family is in town so I was off from the office today! I did my run a little earlier in the day than usual. Since my race is on Saturday my runs leading up to it are shorter so I can save my legs for my race 😂. We are going up to ride the Tram in the morning and then driving down to Carlsbad right after! It’s gonna be a long-ish day but I’m looking forward to it! Notes: And it was colder and windier today 🫠. It’s supposed to be even colder the next few days so we shall see how this goes. I have been trying to post within a few hours of my run - but today just got away from me! We have Craig’s side of the family coming in tomorrow so we were cleaning and getting as much prepped before tomorrow! A lot of places were closed (because of the Holiday) so I have to do an early Target run before work tomorrow!! . . My run today felt really great! It is wild to me because I’m having to run faster in zone 2 and I’m not necessarily used to it yet! It’s crazy to see how much faster I have gotten over the last 4 years! I was also thinking about how just over a decade ago, I couldn’t run more than 2-3 miles without my knees hurting. Nowadays, I don’t remember the last time my knees hurt! I’m so thankful that I found my coach and his program has been a game changer for me! Anyways. Notes: I thought yesterday was warm, today was HOT!! If it is going to be this hot in the afternoons I’m going to have to switch to morning runs 😂. I had a shift at the store this morning. It was pretty slow when we opened and then around noon it started getting busy! I was off at 1 and the store was popping and the parking lot was full! I haven’t seen a full lot at uptown in a while! Notes: It was another warm one today - and I AM HERE FOR IT!!! Fridays are my typical day off - but since I took Tuesday off and shifted my run schedule around, today was a running day! I switched back to my Saucony Rides - and I’m glad I did! My half is next Friday, so I plan to run in those and hopefully get a new half PR! I noticed that my hips were not vibing with the beyondfeels - and I got a blister 😔. So. As much as I was hyped to wear these shoes I don’t think I will keep them in my rotation. I’m glad I at least gave them a go! I had to theragun my legs and hips last night for about 30 minutes, they were so dang sore. I think it helped so I didn’t feel as sore today. My hips didn’t feel as bad today on my run but I def need to work on some hip openers and stretches this week 😅. Anyways. Shoes: lululemon beyondfeel & lululemon macropillow crew socks . Notes: It was a warm one today!!! I have a feeling come mid/late May I’ll have to start switching to mornings, which I am really looking forward to! Wore my Beyondfeels again today! I think I’m gonna pause on wearing them - toe box on them is a little too big for my preference and they’re rubbing areas of my feet raw; sooooo back to my Sauconys! Which is totally fine - I have a half marathon next week and the Beyondfeels are different than my Sauconys so I don’t want to change up too much before next week! Other than that run went well! First mile was very fast for zone 2 (@ 10:10) - and then the rest of the miles weren’t too bad! The beauty of my loop is it’s flat / hilly / dirt / asphalt - a little bit of everything! Because of the heat, my HR tends to climb quicker and more easily, so just something for me to keep in mind! Notes: The weather has been so terrible the last few days. We had a nice stretch of really warm weather and then it was FREEZING and dreary Sunday / Monday / Tuesday. I thought we were done with that weather and I was just NOT feeling it - running and motivation wise. So. I took those 3 days off 😂. I was able to re-arrange my schedule a tad, so I really only missed one run last week and I’m still on track to finish all my runs this week! I’ll call that a win! I finally wore my new lululemon beyondfeel shoes on my run today, and y’all!! They were awesome. I don’t know if it was the 3 rest days or the fact that they’re new shoes but I had a DAMN. GOOD. RUN! I averaged under a 10 minute mile for my 4 x 10 tempo run - faster than I’ve been in a hot minute! The shoes provided enough support and cushioning. I’m excited to see how they hold up over my next few runs. I think within the next week or two I’ll be able to tell whether or not these will be added to my training shoe rotation (which is currently Puma Velocity Nitros & Saucony Rides). Notes: It’s that time of year where it’s cold in the morning and warmer in the evening. Right now I’m pretty set on late afternoon / early evening runs. Medal Monday (swipe to see 3rd photo for actual medal 😂). I ran the Shamrock Shuffle 10 Miler yesterday! I was nervous about the weather so I just packed along a rain jacket, vest and my waterproof shoes just in case 🤣. Craig drove us to Rio Rancho and saw me off at the starting line! I ended up just going with my swiftly tank and long sleeve - which in hindsight was perfect for the run. . . I got lunch with SB on Saturday and she gave me a heads up that the course was going to be hilly. Y’all. SHE. WAS. NOT. LYING. That run was HARD and really hilly. Aside from the damn hills (which BTW was half of the run) it was a really strong run! I didn’t exactly fall within my target HR zones - I went higher - but it felt great!! The only thing I’m kicking myself for is ending my watch early - so I didn’t get the shiny PR for my 10 miler on my Strava. I essentially shaved off 3 minutes from my previous PR but I stopped by watch too early so I won’t have record of it in my Strava. BUT I did get a PR for 15k - which again after running this course I’m a floored. I shaved off about 2 minutes from my previous record. . . All in all, it was a great run and I don’t think I would have done anything differently! Yes the hills sucked but the fact that I kept around an 11 minute mile for the entirety of that run gives me hope that I can get under a 2:30 half, plus I have a new POT for RunDisney!! Looking at my splits - you can definitely tell which miles were hills! . . OH. AND. I was looking at race results from yesterday, and I can’t believe it, BUT! I placed 2nd in my age group 🥳🙌🏼🤩😂. Shoes: Saucony Ride & lululemon macropillow crew socks . Notes: The wind yesterday was INSANE. Luckily it died down today, mostly 😂. I picked up my bib for my 10-miler today! A little nervous but just gonna go with the flow! I looked up my 10 mile times (via Strava) and my average give or take is around 2 hours. I checked with my coach to see if there is a specific HR zone I should run in, and he suggested Zone 3 and Zone 4 to finish it off. For reference, if I were running to really race it, I would run Zone 4 to Zone 5/6. So I’m taking it down a notch tomorrow because I have a half marathon in two weeks 😬🤣. I had my 20 minute shake out run today and it felt pretty good! It was drizzling and a little cold, but got it done. I’m looking at the weather for tomorrow and y’all…. Ugh…. I am not ready for it. Notes: it was weirdly cold / hot today 😂. Had some sun poking out of the clouds but not enough to make it warm. I felt good in tight, but long sleeve may have been a bit much. I’m glad I brought it though. Because it was windy but not sunny, I didn’t want to put my contacts in. I knew there’d be some dust floating around so I opted to keep my glasses on - I don’t usually do this. But it was manageable and fine! Run itself felt pretty good. I was a little paranoid about UNM parking so I had to park in my no ticketing zone 🤣. When this happens I start at a different area of the course - which makes it interesting! I have about a 2 mile loop I run and the first mile is usually flat, and the second mile has a lot of rolling hills. Where I started today, gave me flat and hills - so a nice compromise! I definitely love routine but this helps mix it up! I always think I’ll get sick of my loop but I really love it. It gives me a good bit of everything - trail, asphalt, flats & hills. Notes: Today was RunDisney’s Wine & Dine registration day!! It was a little bit of a shit show but my sister and I got registered for the challenge (10k and half marathon). It falls the week of Halloween so while we usually would get to Orlando Wednesday or Thursday before the races, we are coming in Friday so she can spend Halloween with the Wai! I am so thankful and pumped that we got in and I can’t wait! . . Tempo Tuesday’s are my favorite. I get to test out zone 4 and see how much faster I get week over week. Ideally, tempo zone (or higher) is what I want and to aim for the when I run a race. I have the Shamrock Shuffle 10 miler this weekend so I’m exited to test out my legs and legs and heart! My last race I really went for it was the Bosque Half - I was really strong the first 10 miles and then it got too hot. So. I am trying to front load some races this spring but also some in the fall! Only downside - I let my heart rate creep up a little too high (sorry Coach). I think I need to get a new batter for my HRM - it’s been a little Wonky lately. It took a while for it to catch up to my HR. I felt that my HR was higher than what was showing and sure enough - it was. By the time my HRM caught up to my HR it had shot over 160 🤦🏻‍♀️. For reference I try to keep within zone two which for me is between 144-155 BPM. All good!! I’m excited for Tuesdays tempo run cause I have to get my HR high so that shouldn’t be an issue 😬🤣. TBH I think I was fine - I didn’t really get too hot. If it had been sunnier with less clouds I would have gone with shorts but alas the clouds. I feel like my body is still getting used to being back at elevation - heart rate is adjusting and slowly but surely getting back to elevation fitness! 🤣 . . I wrote out my tentative race schedule for the year and I am pretty excited!!! I applied to run with Athletic Brewing for a half in CT later this year - fingers crossed I get accepted. And then I looked up a bunch of other local races for the year, too! I’ll sign up for those closer to the race dates! WDW Wine & Dine Registration is next week! My sis and I are going to try for the Challenge! These runs are becoming more and more popular so keeping our fingers crossed that we will get in. We (my sis and I) are seriously contemplating Dopey for January 2025. We are both trying to look at our calendars for the year to make sure we can find the time to train for it. I always forget that when I’m back home I run at elevation - so it’s no joke. Running in Florida at sea level was so nice - and dare I say easier 😅🤣. Today was a slap in the face but I’m glad I got out and got it done. Zone training looked a little iffy (sorry Bill) - but I know I’ll get back on track!!! Weather was BEAUTIFUL. ☀️☀️☀️ . . Date: Sunday 02/25/24 . Workout: WDW Princess Half Marathon . Weather: 50° (feels like 48°), Humidity: 89% . Notes: After the 10k on Saturday we went to Animal Kingdom and stayed until about 330pm. We had an early dinner reservation at Boatwright’s Dining Hall at our hotel. We went to bed about 30 minutes later than the previous night but we were still in bed and early. We had another EARLY morning wake up call at 3am. Same as the day before, we also got on our bus around 3:30am and were dropped off at Epcot around 4am. Our official start time was a little after 5:20am. We were in the first wave of our corral. This course was a little rough. Lots of highway running - since we were running up to Magic Kingdom. Once we got to Magic Kingdom it was pretty awesome. They changed up the course from last year and we got to run through a good majority of the park - so that was really cool! I lost my sister around mile 7 - slowed down and then found her. But then lost her again. She texted me saying it would be okay - so I just took off for the last 4 miles. I was slowing down and my legs wanted to move so I knew I had to pick up my pace. I found someone with a pace that I thought I could keep up with - and followed her the last 4 miles. What I didn’t know was just how fast I was able to run those last 4 miles 🤣. I was fast enough that I finally got a PR in the 5k with a sub 30 time 😭. I finished exactly at 2:40:00 - which is my 4th best half marathon time! Now I want to test my legs out and I signed up for a 10 miler in March and another half in April! Notes: With travel, it has been a busy few days!!!! Admittedly my sister and I didn’t do any of our pre race runs. Once we are in the Disney bubble we are super active and try to do A LOT and we usually get a ton of steps. So we enjoyed our first few days in Florida and got acclimated to the time - we are usually in Mountain Time instead of Eastern Time. . . Race Day: EARLY morning wake up call at 3am. We got on our bus by around 3:30am and were dropped off at Epcot around 4am. Our official start time was a little after 5:25am. We got to run in both Hollywood Studios and Epcot - one of the cool perks of RunDisney events; running through the parks! The run itself was awesome. 10k is my absolute favorite distance and I felt that we had a pretty strong run! We don’t usually stop for characters, but we do try to soak up and enjoy our surroundings as much as possible. Running wise, we kept it pretty steady. Most of the run I was in Zone 1 & 2. Notes: So Fridays are *supposed* to be a rest day. But. I felt absolutely terrible yesterday. Craig got me to go on a walk with him and Blake but that was all I really could handle. I had the worst headache and running a tempo run did not sound appealing at all. I’m glad I took it easier yesterday because today’s run was AMAZING. I was able to average under the 10 minute miles for all three segments of my tempo sequences - and averaged an overall 10:10 / mile after adding in my warm up jog and cool down walk. It was a freaking good run!!! I have my endurance runs this weekend, and then a lot of short runs next week in prep for the 10k on Saturday and then the half on Sunday! . Also, on the day scheduled to complete my WDW Virtual 10k run 🤣. Luckily my coach and the run programmed in zone 2 - which was surprisingly manageable! I did run a little more cautiously than usual since I rarely run in the snow. Don’t get me wrong, I know my trail VERY well, but add in a few inches of snow and it’s a different place. It was a little daunting - at first - when we initially got to the trail and I was like what am I getting myself into. But once I got going it was PERFECT. A little slower than my usual endurance runs, but to be expected especially with the weather! It was wild - it was dumping snow when I first started my run, and by the time I finished, the snow started to melt. ☁️☁️☁️ . . Date: Tuesday 02/06/24 . Workout: Tempo Run (3 x 10) . Weather: 57° (feels like 54°) - tbh it felt a lot colder than this especially since the sun was not out 😭 . Shoes: Saucony Ride & lululemon power stride crew . Notes: Like I said above WTF - it was cooler than whatever temperature it supposedly was outside. I had my tempo run today and mannnnnn was it fun! 🤣 I was trying to keep around a 10 minute mile during each of my tempo sets! First mile was pretty spot on at 10:01 and mile two was super speedy at 9:41!!!! By set 3 - my legs were pretty tired and I had the hilly part of my loop so I knew I’d be lucky if I kept it under 11 - I had it at 10:32. So I averaged 10:05 / mile for my 3 x 10 tempo run! Super pumped about that! Tempo Zone is the zone I try to aim for when I’m running a race! For my Princess runs with my sis in a few weeks we just run them for fun and primarily stay in recovery / endurance zone - but I’ll keep y’all updated on how that goes. . I found a cute company on Etsy that makes skirts that I can wear over my shorts - I’m thinking this is the way I’m gonna go for my Disney runs from now on! I can wear whatever shorts I want under the skirt, and I’m free to wear whatever bra and top too - so it’s really a win win for me. I think I’m gonna dress as the princess side kicks - while my sis is gonna dress as the princess! For the 10k we are going tangled theme - my sis will be Rapunzel and I will be Pascal. For the half marathon we are going frozen theme - my sis will be Anna and I will Olaf! This isn’t set in stone but I think this is what we are going with! . I was pretty tired after work and didn’t want to run 😭. I just came off a 12 day Whoop Green streak and I just felt sluggish all day long. Notes: My sis has been insistent that we semi dress up for the Princess Runs next month - and so she leant me a few of her crowned athletics bottoms (pants and a skort). I’m already ruling out the pants because I am not running in pants with that Florida humidity 🤣 so skort it is! If you know me you know I’m a lululemon die hard and I RARELY stray from the brand when it comes to my workout clothes. I gave the skort a go today and it was surprisingly good! I wish it was a little bit longer but that isn’t a deal breaker. I only ran 2.25 miles and walked the same amount - so a little over 4.5 miles and it felt mostly good. I was a little worried about chafing but I think that the skort will at least be okay for the 10k. I think it’ll be fun to be semi costumed up! 10k theme is Rapunzel, the Half is Princess Tiana, challenge is Frozen, so we have a few princesses to work with! Notes: My Blue Saucony Rides were looking really worn and they’re approaching over 200 miles so I decided to bust out a new pair of shoes! Because of my runs next month I wanted to keep my shoe as similar to to those as possible, and luckily I have the same exact model Saucony shoes just in a different color! I get VERY particular about my shoes especially this close to race time! I have a lot of lululemon Blissfeels, however, I haven’t been running in them as much as I thought I would. I’ll try to get them in my rotation. I am, however, obsessed with the lululemon Blissfeel trail shoes and I’m pretty close to retiring my first pair of those! Today’s weather was BEAUTIFUL! Notes: Endurance Wednesday’s are always a good test to see where my zone 2 baseline is - especially after Tuesdays! Tuesday runs I’m always aiming to get my HR up into zone 4 (tempo zone) which is 2 zones higher than my endurance zone. Zone 2 training is amazing because I don’t put too much stress on my body and it’s easier to recover from days that I train in this zone. For todays run, my zone 2 baseline felts like it’s in a pretty good spot and the run felt really great! When I sign up for races - the zone that I typically aim to run the entirety of the run is zone 4 (tempo) with some zone 5 & zone 6 (above tempo and Supra). I used to get frustrated with how slow some of my training runs were, but after trusting the process and getting my runs done and finally running a race - I was in utter disbelief just got fast I was. Notes: Tempo Tuesday! The goal of tempo runs is to sustain my HR in zone 4 (tempo zone) for the prescribed time of my tempo run (aka 24 minutes). I was almost 18 minutes in zone, and 5 minutes above 😅 so about 75% in zone so I’ll call that a win! It was weirdly warm but also cold. I think I dressed perfect - the wind was what made it cold and I was running close to sunset so that probably also contributed to the cold 🥶. . I had a nice rest day yesterday / day off. Notes: Long Run / Endurance Saturday! I slept on my neck weird on Thursday night so I was dealing with some neck / shoulder pain on Friday. Luckily Craig got my theragun and was able to massage around my neck and shoulder. It felt a little tender this morning but nothing too painful. Got out on the trail around 11am. I dressed a little too warm. Leggings wise I think I was okay but my swiftly with restless hoody was a bit much. I think I would have been fine with a long swing swiftly - but all good! I was surprisingly 80% + in zone for this run so I will call it a win! Had a birthday lunch with the fam to celebrate my sister and dads birthdays (both were earlier this week) - and now Craig and I are gonna hang with work friends!! Notes: Thursday is always a speed day. It was *supposedly* going to snow but alas my run was very cold and very windy. Before I started running back in 2020, I would never imagine running outside in weather like this! I was primarily an OTF girlie and I enjoyed that my workouts were always more or less the same temperature because they were inside. It’s been a different beast figuring out how to run especially when it’s cold outside. As crazy as I might sound - I really enjoy my cold outdoor runs! Notes: Wednesday, Saturday and Sundays are endurance days. They are always a good day to test my fitness after tempo and speed days! Today felt really great and the weather wasn’t too cold! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ . . Date: Sunday 01/07/24 . Workout: Endurance Run . Time in Zone: 60.7% . Weather: 36° (with windchill 29°) . Clothes: Brushed base pace tights, swiftly tank, fleece pullover hoody, Down for a Run Vest, fleece ear warmer and fast & free gloves (all lululemon) . Shoes: Saucony Ride + stance wool socks . Notes: Sundays are always an endurance day. It’s usually half of whatever Saturdays run was, however since I didn’t run yesterday I did a a longer run today. Cold days are always interesting getting dressed for. There are always certain thresholds in temperature that I look for that will determine the amount of layers I will wear. I will always look at what the temperature actually feels like - since that takes in to account windchill. 50° I’ll wear shorts. 40° and below I’ll wear pants and a long sleeve. Anything below 30° I’ll throw a vest on. 20° and below I will throw on a jacket and usually a pair of joggers over my leggings. It’s taken me a while to figure that out but that’s what I usually baseline everything off of. Just going to chill the rest of today and take it easy / prep to go back to the office tomorrow! Monday is a non impact cardio day / active recovery. Haven’t decided what I’ll do yet but I’ll keep y’all posted. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ . . Date: Friday 01/05/24 . Workout: Fartleks (450s) . Weather: 42° (with windchill 37°) . Clothes: Brushed base pace tights, swiftly tank, fleece pullover hoody, and fast & free gloves (all lululemon) . Shoes: lululemon Blissfeel trail shoes + stance wool socks . Notes: Fridays are technically a designated rest day, but with the travel on Tuesday, I shifted my days 😬. There was a little bit of snow still out but most of it was melted. I really look forward to Tempo and Speed days! They are generally Tuesday and Thursdays. I get to work on getting my HR a lot higher than I do during my endurance days (which are zone 2 days).
