CHANGING TABLE 😍 Sneak Peak, at our little upcycle project yesterday. I really need to find some handles, but can’t decide between a antique brass cup handle (to match the rest of the house) or something a little more decorative & girly?! Perfect for our changing basket from @olliella and to hide all the nappies, wipes and more baby essential away 🤍 It’s actually looking a lot more greeny / grey at some times of the day, rather than a nice warm shade. But I still love it!!
DIY SUNDAY Finally this dresser is having its makeover, ready to become our baby’s changing table 🤍 After choosing paint, a quick trip to b&q for essentials, it has been sanded and painted 😍 Just need to purchase new knobs / handles for it now.. We’ve also managed to get the blinds up upstairs finally (and realised we now need to order the bathroom & landing blind too 🙈) Moved the rooms around so the snuzpod & rocking chair are now in our room. And finally got round to cleaning the windows 🤣 I’m glad we’ve finally achieved something for the nursery this weekend. The weeks have been flying by & we are getting closer to meeting our little love 👶🏼✨Now to persuade him to put the canopy up over the cot 🤣 There’s still time today for a few more jobs?! Looking forward to relaxing later & enjoying our steak dinner date at home once little miss is in bed 😍

Bathroom progress ✨ Oh it’s been a long time coming.. we got the keys over three years ago!! With almost three years being spent in the ‘old lilac bathroom’ 😫 and counting... but just seeing the new family bathroom coming together reminds me why it’s been worth the wait! Slowly our project house is beginning to feel like home 💛 We still haven’t got our blinds up in the three bedrooms that are done, we’re sleeping on a makeshift bed frame (he does like to try stop me moaning), and probably 60% of the house hasn’t even been started yet... let alone any beautiful prints, cosy cushions or accessories in the home. But knowing how much hard work we’ve put into this home makes it all worth it.. and ONE DAY it will be 100% complete and no doubt we will be scrolling right move for the next project or piece of land 🙈 I’m really trying to keep the house feeling fresh, clean but also warm & cosy. With the same colours throughout to bring the home together. Minimal yet traditional 💛
Slowly the house is filling with washing prep for baby’s arrival... but it still doesn’t seem real 🤍 In love with our new sofas, and what a blessing they’ve been for isolation at home over Christmas. They were never our first, nor second or third choice.. but I cannot fault them!! Once I finally get up and about to tidy the house again I’ll try get a picture of them ✨
This Christmas & NY hasn’t been as expected.. over a week spent in bed with covid 😢 It was never going to be the ‘normal’ Christmas we are used to having, but I never anticipated Christmas Day I’d begin to feel unwell & within days have a positive test... I’ve been off social media for a while, but thought I’d share a little area of our home which has also longed for some tlc. Isolation isn’t fun to say the least, especially when your poorly. But one positive is that the family bathroom is in progress 🙏🏻 hopefully will be finished in time for baby’s arrival!! I can’t wait to bath our little baby in the sink 😍 just as we did with Lilah Dottie in our old home!
Nesting 🐰🤍 When all I can do is faff and move things around ✨ Finding myself constantly distracted in the nursery. Wish I could make a decision on tiles to finish it off! Next weekend is project sand, prime & paint the changing table along with Lilah’s cabinet. Can’t wait to get some furniture upstairs.
& we have a bedroom 💭✨ What a huge difference it’s already making. I’ve finally got my own space to relax! I am even finding myself up here working on the laptop as it seems so clean & kind 💛 So much to do- it does still feel like an empty temporary room. But adding a few pieces day by day. I’d love a big arched floor mirror to go to the left of our sideboard... until I saw the price of them 🙈
NESTING ✨ I can’t help getting a little excited for our next arrival 💛 Despite a whole long list of things to purchase for the house, the odd baby related thing is okay right?! I’m in LOVE with this drawer unit for baby’s changing table. I’ve been searching for one for months already 🙈 so it feels like one big thing ticked off the list (and its somewhat house related). Our @olliella changing basket fits just perfectly 😍 and I’m planning to make a @little.dottie.designs insert for it, for now this quilt will be perfect. The unit is chipped in a few places.. & we’ve gone for the @ikeauk wooden cot. So I’m tempted to paint it in a beautiful green colour, or perhaps a neutral beige. Thinking that will sit nicely next to the cot & give the room a little colour too. So excited to get to work making the bedrooms feel like home. It’s nearly been three years since we started this project 🙈

Can’t wait to get this room finished. PLASTER - after a long wait (due to other things taking priority) we are now in the position where we can have our big living / dining space plastered!! FINALLY! . . I’m so excited to see the transformation. We might actually have one room somewhat finished soon?! . . I have to admit, I have no idea how I’ll cope using the playroom as our living space too for the next few weeks 🙈 Lets hope for hot weather so we can live in the garden 🤞🏻 . . I swear each room in this house has been used for a thousand other reasons than it’s final purpose 😂 Anyone else find that? I hope the wait is worth it! G A R D E N 🌿 . . Another angle of our outdoor space- not quite finished or the ‘after photo’ but regardless... I’m in love with our work!! . . It’s so lovely that most areas of this house have been handmade. Even the decking, hot tub surround, table and pergola. I love how creative we can be by being hands on & handmaking things ourselves. . . Hopefully it’s a good thing!! And our visions are also practical (& beautiful 😂) . . We really wanted to create an outdoor space to extend from our living space. Creating a cosy area we can enjoy, and have our friends & family over too! We love entertaining - so the table had to be big enough to have friends all around comfortably. I love that we also designed it to fit around our dream chairs 🥰 . . Current garden / mud pit ‘during’ stage- featuring some wooden THINGS 🤣 (I’ve managed to acquire from the top of pallets) I’m planning to turn them into raised vegetable beds at the end of the garden. . . Have I completely missed the window for growing veg from seed? I’m thinking I’ll cheat and purchase some plants locally!! . . Trying to figure out where to put these is proving the latest debate in our house. Luke doesn’t want it to be ‘cluttered’!! INTERNAL DOORS & SKIRTING . inspiration . Due to the loft conversion- we will be having fire doors internally. And oh my doesn’t the price just jump up!! (Otherwise I’d be quite happy to keep the existing doors and find reclaimed ones to match ) . . We’ve always known that we will paint the wood work & door, the same colour as our kitchen... but I didn’t realise that choosing a style of door, skirting & architrave would be such a hard decision 🙈 . . I’ve fallen in love with the more traditional style door and decorative look. I think they’d look beautiful with the traditional fireplaces and kitchen. Whereas Luke prefers the square edge style door (picture four) along with a square edge skirting, with a little bit of detail. . . I don’t mind door four and it’s growing on me.. or perhaps a four panel door (but more of a traditional style where the panels are wider). But I still LOVE the second image. I think we could buy standard fire doors and add the decorative trim 🤷🏼♀️ . . The only thing we’ve decided (after a week of discussing) is the height of the skirting 😂 . So what to do with the fireplace?? Do I strip it back and restore it?! Ive never actually touched a fireplace as the ones in our previous home were pretty good & didn’t need any tlc. . . Ahhhh so so want to keep these bare plastered walls in this room!! Or perhaps limewash one 🤷🏼♀️ I find myself just coming into the room to admire the walls 🙈 I think it’s the texture & tone of them... or at I being completely crazy?! . . Can I just leave them bare?! The smallest bedroom has now been plastered too 🙌🏻 . . Initially this was always going to be Lilah’s bedroom. Although now two other bigger rooms are plastered, we have changed our minds 🤷🏼♀️ . . WOOOOOO! It’s happening, two bedrooms have been plastered 🙌🏻 and a third to be finished Monday. . . For those of you that don’t know me personally- it’s been a very long time coming. I won’t bore you with the details, but we’re basically sleeping in the front room ‘snug’ all together 🤦🏼♀️ with the windows boarded up 😂 with a BEAUTIFUL old red carpet 😱 . . GARDEN PROGRESS . . A bit of a boring image. But it’s all part of the process 🙈 And so much time goes into the preparation before the final result. Looking back I wish I had posted more ‘during’ images too. . . You might of wondered why I was painting weatherboard for the garden... well it was for a little wall around. After spending a day moving the soil around we soon realised we really needed to invest the time and money to make the wall first 😂 . . We took the time to work out where the patio would finish - in line with the bottom of the bifold doors. And then used the measurements to level the wall all around the garden (pile of mud) . . We added posts all around and concreted them in so they’re all secure. After this we then added the bracing too. . . Using weatherboard to add a bit of character and texture. It’s painted the same colour as the woodwork in our house and exterior (so lucky we had some left). . . The last step was lining it with polythene to add an extra protective layer. . . Wednesday we finished the front and began bringing soil to the front. Yesterday we did the right hand side and took the afternoon digging soil & wheelbarrowing it to gaps. Oh my this was a huge task!! As you can see the garden was quite low originally to the right 🙈 it’s safe to say my whole body is aching all over today. . . Now we will try make a mark in the levelling out, and the weather is sooo cold. Hence I’m sat indoors writing this at 9:30 instead of raking already 😂 . . Any tips would be hugely appreciated!! . . It’s a huge difference compared to how we were living last year. . . Family - Having Lilah home everyday is making staying at home so much more special. & I cannot wait to see all my family very soon. . . Health - I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be sick right now, my heart goes to everyone having to fight illnesses & be in hospital right now. Being surrounded by the virus & away from family must be so hard. I’m very fortunate my Crohn’s is under control 🤞🏻 . . Handyman - basically Luke, I probably take his skills and determination for granted as I’m so used to his passion and hard work. We are seeing so much progress (in our eyes) & it wouldn’t be happening without him. I’m so lucky he is such a handyman 😂 . . Social Media - For keeping us all connected. Bringing the best to us through live videos, activities for the children. Blogs with recipes and craft ideas. It’s been so helpful to keep busy and connected. . . A whole day working hard together on the garden, followed by a date night at home 🥰 It’s actually really lovely to work together on the house. It reminds me of our previous renovation & days before our daughter. Generally I’m busy occupying her and Luke is working hard 🙈 . Our only finished (well half finished space) is our open living area. What have we done 🙈 . . Just after I was saying how much I loved having a garden this year... BUT swipe to see the before!! So many thistles, weeds and brambles! Although Lilah adored exploring- it was hardly child friendly for play dates with her friends 😂 . . Especially as we don’t know the dimensions of any new sofas / tables. I’m resisting keep searching for new furniture until the flooring is down... whenever that may be 🤷🏼♀️ . . Moments of gratitude 🧡 . . Staying at home, means we’ve been able to slow down & really focus on being present. Even though it’s a complete tip & building site, I’m so thankful for the sunshine ☀️ Today Luke is working on the velux windows in our open plan living / dining area & the light is streaming in!! . . Feeling very happy today 🌼 . . Hot Cross Bun mixture is proving as I type. Lilah has found lots of ladybirds in the garden- she can’t stop giggling at them 😌 . We’ve just gone on a little walk to the park, picked flowers & the neighbours have given us some of their pritt-stick’s towards our nature projects. Now back home whilst Lilah is enjoying crafting in the sunshine & I’m enjoying an Aperol 🍊It really is the little things that mean the most! . . PROGRESS 👏🏻 . . Today has seen huge progress with the other end of the living area 🙌🏻 . . Swipe to see the many stages & how we have been living over the past few years 😱 We knocked through & got some walls plasterboarded back in Dec 2018, just to spend Christmas in this new space! We spent nearly a year in this space with no natural light at all, it drove me crazy without daylight or fresh air. And it just feels like a memory and a story to tell... . . L I V I N G 🤍 . . Still a very long way off being a cosy beautiful home. But WOW! So much progress has been made since two years ago 🥰 This has been one big project with never ending jobs - so priorities haven’t been finishing off the living room 🙈 . . Yesterday, the living space got a little tlc- finishing the plasterboard around the gable end and tv units, making the alcove for some shelving too ✨ Amazing how a space can transform in just one day!! . .
