The Work and Learn Center hosted an AAMAzing collaboration with our George I. Sanchez Charter School students! Last week, @aamaworkandlearn hosted 30 business management students for a design and production workshop. Each student was able to create their own design and make their own unique products. They had the choice to make a hoodie, t-shirt, tumbler, or mug. This creative production process gave students insight on how the hands-on work needed to have a business. Since 2019, the AAMA Work and Learn Center has trained dozens of students through our paid design and digital literacy courses. After successful completion of our program, our students will get support in getting a full-time job or a paid internship. Students can also win a free laptop and up to $900 of paid stipend. Meet Marley Dias! She is purpose-driven 16-year-old founder of #1000BlackGirlBooks and author of Marley Dias Gets It Done: And So, Can You! She is also the Ambassador of National Educational Association (NEA) Read Across America. Host and Executive Producer of Netflix’s Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices. Marley launched the #1000BlackGirlBooks drive in November of 2015, leveraging the power of social media to reach a larger audience. The goal was to collect 1,000 books featuring Black female protagonists by February 2016. The story went viral and was picked up by media outlets around the world as well as bloggers, schools, youth-focused organizations and millions of individuals who wanted to participate in the project. Since we have been partnering with @g.e.t.outdoors recently, we thought today would be a good day to recognize the art of outdoors. 🏞️🌄🌅 Art, Music, Dance, & more are inspired by elements our earth has created. Did you know people use to use flowers to create paint?
