We don’t get out much so I’m sure I’ll be posting a few times from this trip. We went to the most beautiful place in Kona on the big island. I absolutely love it there. Our kids are extremely tough ages to go out and actually do stuff so we don’t do a whole lot. When your oldest has Down syndrome you don’t have the leader and helper other families might have. Don’t get me wrong, she’s the best ever but she’s still working on things like swimming and understanding danger. That’s a scary combo in a place filled with water. New environments throw off her food, drink and toileting routine and I stress a lot about that stuff. Ellie is at an age where she doesn’t sit still and also has no clue about danger. What that means is that vacations are amazing for the kids and watching their joy gives me life. It also means I’m so so tired and didn’t have a second to relax unless you consider holding a sleeping child relaxing which was the most relaxing part of the trip and something I do love doing. Hawaii is one of my favorite places, I love to swim and so do the kids. I’m so thankful for a husband that helps and a mother in law who doesn’t ever get in the water but did on this trip especially on the day the boys went golfing. Here’s another Monday memory - I first met Kris in high school. He was a surfer/skater melding in both cultures and whenever I hit towb he’d be around skating too. That was just the way it was in town, our city was the skatepark and Yellowstone was our unofficial official first DIY skatepark.
