Follow theptparent for more play ideas, tips and tricks and info on baby and child development 👶 ♥️ These “activities” are things you’re likely already doing and probably seem more like snuggles, but did you know by doing these things you’re laying a strong foundation for your baby’s development? ✨It’s true! ✨ 👶 Interacting with your baby held with their head and body in a midline position helps develop a sense of “middle”. You might have heard of the importance of “crossing midline” for skills such as reaching, rolling, crawling etc. But before you can cross the midline of your body, you have to subconsciously know that you have a midline. Typically, this is fully achieved ~3 months of age. By starting this at an early age we are helping develop the sense of midline to work towards these more advance skills. 👶 Tummy time on your chest will likely be the primary way you achieve tummy time in those early days. Being reclined on your chest either with you sitting or lying down makes the experience more enjoyable for your baby, not only because they are close to you… but because being propped at an incline on your body makes the task of lifting their head easier 🙌 Was this helpful? ☀️ This is an easy outdoor activity for toddlers that is perfect for summer! 🌈 All you need is cornstarch, water and food coloring (but the coloring is optional!) 🌈 I use a 1:1 ratio of cornstarch and water and then add a few drops of coloring! When I made this paint for Charlotte in the muffin tin I used 1 TBSP of cornstarch and a little more than a tablespoon of water. 💕You can find the paint brushes we use in my Amazon storefront in the art and coloring section! Also, because this is just cornstarch and water, the paint is complete taste safe 🙌 I think this would be appropriate for 10-12 months and up! @theformulamom - Does anyone have any travel coming up? I know that traveling with little ones can be overwhelming, but being prepared is key! Let’s chat about how to prepare for plane or car travel when formula feeding! Here’s what you need to pack: 🍼 Bottles - literally bring twice as many as you think you’ll need for transit. You don’t want to be washing a bottle in an airplane bathroom or at a rest stop! When schedules are off due to missed naps or an early morning flight, eating schedules may be off as well. Bring extra bottles so you can go with the flow! Traveling with a baby is a “do whatever you need to” situation. 🍼 Water - If using powdered formula and driving, bring bottles of water with you. If flying, purchase bottled water after security—again, more than you think you’ll need. Make sure to MARK THESE bottles so that any travel buddies know that this is baby’s water! We don’t want to use water that has bacteria from someone else’s mouth. 🍼 Formula - Some parents prefer to use liquid ready-to-feed formula when traveling for ease and convenience. This is fine! Just make sure to try it at home first to make sure your baby accepts it. You CAN bring more than 3oz of ready-to-feed formula on a plane as it’s considered a medical need. You can request that they NOT OPEN the formula (as breaking the seal starts the countdown of how long it’s good for). 🍼 Dish soap - Gotta clean those bottles at some point! 🍼 Sterilizer bags - These can be a great option for cleaning in a pinch if you don’t have access to a dishwasher. 🍼 Formula dispensers - If using powder, this will let you take just what you need for a day trip without taking up your whole bag. I relate to this so much, I felt like a new human after Quinton turned two, healthier, stronger... still as exhausted but I felt the most "normal" I had in years. There is such a stigma around having to bounce back, rush in to seeing people and being back to "normal" (or whatever that even is!). Hello 👋 its been a while..... I last posted on this page almost 2.5 years ago 😱 and my gosh has a lot happened in that time......I'm now a mummy to an amazing 14 month old little girl 🩷, we've moved house....twice an life has generally just become a lot more hectic 🤷♀️.
