Broth was more like prawny bisque than laksa (doesn’t have much laksa flavour?). But as a prawn bisque this is really good! 🐟✔️Mystery fish & masak lemak - The tilapia doesn’t have any soil flavour at all, clean fish taste & it was beautifully done. Our table’s fave item.. But having 2 rich item one after (slipper lobster then this lemak), was a little too heavy. 🫓🔶Flatbread, asam pedas butter - Fragrant, but it was soaking in oil making it super difficult to eat. 🦆🔶Duck breast & ngo hiang - Beautiful duck breast but paired w/ dehydrated version & rock hard ngo hiang? 💚✔️Guava kedondong sorbet - Lovely palate cleanser 🍰✔️Masala chai mungbean cake - Love the cake to end the meal! Pandan macaron is too sweet for my likings. 💭Interesting use of local ingredients & flavours (which could be more refined). Each meat/seafood had the perfect doneness which is a plus point. Overall some hits & misses but generally it was an enjoyable meal. Note that the meal consists of aging / fermentation (& this sadly may have caused 2 out of 4 of us food poisoning couple of hours after the meal...). May return if the menu changes. Szechuan Pepper - Green SzeChuan pepper are infused for 3 days in our batter before adding a special blend of black sesame paste into it. Smokey toasty nutty with refreshing lemony taste from the green SzeChuan Peppercorn. Green Apple w. Cinnamon - Green apple and cinnamon infused batter, topped with cooked green apples. Imagine having an apple pie. Passion fruit w. Torch Ginger Flower - This one of our two favourite (discounting the classic) flavours. Torch ginger flower and passion fruit infused for 3 days. It’s has a sweet, citrusy and floral aroma from the torch ginger flower and the passion fruit balancing the sweet and sour note. Dark Chocolate w. Daun Kesum, This is another favourite of ours. Daun kesum infused batter, with Valrhona Dark Chocolate, topped with cocoa powder. The daun kesom carries a very unique citrus note, that balance and cut the richness and bitterness from the dark chocolate and cocoa. Some said it’s taste like laksa. Banana and Miso. Valrhona Caramelia 36% chocolate , white miso and banana purée. The white miso introduce a little saltiness and umami into the rich banana flavours and the Valrhona Caramelia 36% chocolate balance it all with rich and creaminess. Broth is light with lotsa grilled shell flavours. Imagine kshf kinda broth using normal shells but these ones are using grilled prawn shells. I don’t get how this is high quality, it is obviously poor quality meat, which I spat out some of it. What was “advertised” online & actual is too far off. Way far off from what I had at Taan. 🐖❌Pork jowl (RM48) - Also a big no. The meat has a funky frozen odor like it wasn’t well cleaned after meat was thawed. Covered with lots of their sauces and somehow ate some of it. 🥚🔶Steamed Egg (RM16) - Looks good, tastes flat, zero vege or chicken stock flavours. 🥗❌Side dishes - Refillable but it is so bad. Beansprouts were heavily seasoned w/ white pepper. Kimchi doesn’t have any other flavour other than sweet - too much sugar, barely any sour/spice. Sauce for the potato tastes like Chinese oyster sauce. The sauce for the BBQ meat is even weirder, some kinda Chinese black bean taste? 🍶Makgeoli (RM32) 💧Water (RM3 pp) 💭Unpopular opinion. Nothing I had was of Korean flavours other than the makgeoli. Barely any sesame flavour. Not to mention, the service was unwelcoming & robotic. My dissatisfaction is beyond repairable. 📝Beware their hot plate is not great- oil from the NEXT table can somehow land on you.
