Well it's a sad day, but one we knew was coming. Audi has officially cancelled it's LMDh project that was set to compete in IMSA and WEC with both factory and customer cars in 2023 alongside the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, Acura, Cadillac, BMW, Glickenhaus, Toyota, and Vanwall / ByKolles. Audi has decided to go into Formula One instead. It appears the brand will partner with Sauber and the team will be rebranded as Audi. Its hard to explain why, but I just can't get excited about F1 these days. The cars are so big and boring and the sport just doesn't feel special like it once did. Sadly, the new engine regulations coming in 2026 are not going to change any of that. F1 in recent years just feels like a shadow of it's former self trying to be a hip entertainment media circus and losing its roots, history, and raw coolness that made it great in the first place.
