Sierra Ferrell at Debaser on August 22nd 2023. What a special night it was again at the very hot and sweaty sold out Debaser! Sierra had some issues with her voice and was not feeling 100% well. But still she wanted to do the show. And she was brilliant. Of course so it happened that on this very same gig the stage electricity went out and there was no sound coming out of the pa-system. But the band just kept on going and two songs were performed fully acoustic without any amplification. Of course the crowd loved it! Sierra Ferrell announced a new U.S. tour today. That’s as good a reason as any to roll out some photos from her and her amazing band’s raucous sold out show at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix back in February. She released her brilliant studio debut, Long Time Coming, last year on Rounder Records and has spent most of the year selling out shows across the globe in support. She also featured on Shakes Graves’ single “Ready or Not”, which came out just before this gig at the Crescent. I was gutted to miss her when she played Brooklyn in April as I already had tickets to see Del Amitri - who hadn’t toured the U.S. in a couple decades - the same night. Get out and see her if she’s touring anywhere near you. Seriously, go. Really pushed the limits of the Sony Cybershot VI point-and-shoot with this show - right up to the edge of what would be useable/publishable.
