A few months back my dear friend reached out and let me know they had lost their sweet dog Bella. They didn't have a picture of everyone together, so she asked if we could create her a family portrait that included Bella. It's been hard to swing back into routine. Thank you for all your kind, comforting, and understanding messages these past couple weeks. I have days where grief hits unbearably hard and I feel frozen... incapable of doing anything. Other days I have a lot of strength and find a lot of comfort in keeping busy, especially with creating! I miss my boy so much and am sending huge hugs to those who have lost someone they love ❤️ my goal for 2022 is to keep my pet portrait commissions up and available on my website all year. EMMENTALER EYES 🧀 . Lemon Cheesecake with Fig Cookies (the mice 🐭) 😄 . Baking should be fun and joyful, agree? 😄 That’s why I joined the competition initiated by one of my biggest baking inspirations, GBBO runner-up, author of cookbooks - the talented Miss Kim Joy. @kimjoyskitchen . From cookies to cakes, Kim’s baking has a lot of cute ideas and her creativity can definitely amaze you. . This competition has a theme “Eye/Eyes or Face/Faces”. So the first thing I came across was making some mice (the fig rolls/cookies) as I remembered that it was one of the challenges in The Great British Bake Off @britishbakeoff . After that, I thought cheese is often related to the little mouse. So I baked a lemon cheesecake and made it looked like a chunk of Emmentaler cheese because the “eyes” of cheese is so typical. At last, I hand painted a cheese logo and decorated the chunk of cheese with the Emmentaler Eye. 👨🏻🎨 . It was really a great challenge to me as I’ve never made something “cute” or like cartoon before, but it was such a great baking experience. . Thank you one again! 🙏🏻😁@kimjoyskitchen . Trying to take some time to catch my breath. My Mom went into surgery for a pituitary tumor. It ended up going really well and she was able to come home after a few days. This past week she was readmitted to the ICU because her blood sodium levels had dropped drastically. The last two days were extremely nerve-wracking waiting for her levels to stabilize and for the numbers to start going up again. Finally today we got the good news that her sodium levels are going back up ❤️ She'll be in there several more days while they monitor her, but it's so nice to feel that weight lifted! Definitely a scare I wasn't ready for. I am excited to facetime her this weekend!! . . 😍😭💕 the sweetest backpack of the most perfect couple at Disneyland!!! I loved painting this magical custom so much!
