Back from Amsterdam and the first thing on the to-do list was to finish this Mano a Borsa piece, stretch it, and hang it. All done! The various leather and suede layers really work well together - I ended up switching out the background skin to this mustard yellow color to create a little more contrast. Again - all the materials are skins and swatches that I have accumulated over my time of being a footwear designer. Initial layout planning stages for the “Hoops” series - I wanted to create something that speaks to my personal notes as well as pushes the boundaries of upcycling fabrication techniques. The triptych is meant to show the obvious without being obvious, the world of hoops without basketballs. Hands are such a complex shape which needed to be explored, especially in the context of sports and life. The upcycled cut, layered and stitched leather and fabric pieces in various colors would create deep texture variations.
