Jogging down memory lane as there’s this point in my life (aside from parenthood) that I always reference to when I think of the “happiest times of my life.” & as I look as these photos obviously I am surrounded by friends (whom I still hold close to my heart no matter the time that passes) but it’s crazy to me that THIS is what I thought was true happiness... happy TIMES yes but not happiest time of my life. All the energy I wasted on the approval of wrong people.. all the nights I don’t remember because happiness to me back then was the parties I would attend all days of the week drinking to escape. I was on my own at a very young age & making decisions for myself that could have costed me my future. Do I regret my past? Not entirely! Do I look back and think of how fortunate I am that life didn’t take a turn for the worst? 100% as I lived by the seat of my pants and I lived very recklessly. Its funny because these photos are from a summer that I still think to be one of the best summers of my past, but I definitely shake my head at the state I was in, or the choices I was making. The person I am today is nothing like the person I was then& it’s crazy to me to think that when I think of some of the happiest days of my life my mind still goes here. Im so happy that I was able to go through that stage of life with some of the people I did& that I went through it, survived it& grew out of it. I will never regret any past choices as those choices allowed me to meet some of my lifelong friends, leave some people who were never meant to be a part of my future behind & moulded me into the person I am today. Long story short it’s crazy to me to think that I used to yearn to be back in this place and time. It’s okay to miss memories but we have to grow and evolve and appreciate those moments in time but know that there are bigger and better things to look forward to. To love and appreciate the past but to release it and embrace the unknown. If me now could tell 19-21 year old me anything it wouldn’t be to change the way things went or the things I did or the friends I chose, but I’d definitely tell her to love& value herself more ♡
