Charlie speaking here- Tuesday we were guests at “National Night Out” held at Wooten Elementary, and it was such an amazing experience. When I was first asked to do this event I jumped at the chance to do it, I thought it was important to have someone there these kids could relate to. When I was growing up I didn’t have any martial arts gyms come to my elementary, let alone someone who was also from the barrio (neighborhood) with the same Chicano upbringing and who just looked like me. So, I wanted a chance to bond with kids from the same background, and talk about a place I love.
