A lengthy search has come to an end by finally adding an iconic PD Orfina chronograph to the collection. Have always been a fan of the classic design, long before my fascination for Porsche Design watches in general began. The watch is probably most famously known from the top gun movie (worn by Maverick / Tom Cruise) and I am under the impression that the market for these did not get any better with the release of the second movie as well as the relaunch of the watch. On top of that, time is running against the PVD coating (which one wants to see in good original condition). I am even happier to not just have found a ref.7177 in very good condition, but even with a military dial / the legendary “3H” marking (hydrogen-3 = tritium) and a well-developed patina. The world’s first all black watch is powered by the workhorse movement 5100 from Lemania. The Lemania 5100 was the biggest Swiss opponent to the Valjox 7750, but in 1999 Lemania was bought by the Swatch Group and the caliber was quietly removed from the shelves in 2002. 7 years later, ETA introduced the C01.211 caliber. Which was a simplified cheaper variant of the Lemania 5001. It was limited to a Swatch Irony chronograph the Tissot PRC and this Tissot T-Race. Heuer 510.543 A.M.I. Watch of Week 13 2024. Another Heuer, another Lemania 5100 and another military watch this time Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare Italiana). In contrast to the RAAF Lemania and the Sinn EZM1 this watch incorporates all the movement features possible including day, date, 24h indicator, central second and minute hands, hour register and running seconds plus of course the time. They found space for the Heuer logo, AMI logo and name, 3H logo and the hour indicator on the rehaut. So its got just about everything you could wish for. The case is 40mm in diameter and about 13mm thick but it doesn’t feel big at all. It has a mineral crystal and bead blasted finish with matching Heuer signed bracelet so no annoying reflections when in the heat of battle. The hour and minute hands on this example are most likely service hands and similar to the Lemania version of this watch. Flat lume coated hour and minute hands are generally the norm on the Heuer pieces. Heuer embraced the Lemania 5100 movement in the early 1980’s producing a number of references including the Cortina, Boxing, the PVD coated series and even a Silverstone. Some examples made it into the TAG Heuer era but all good things cannot last forever and they were the last of the original Heuer signed watches to be produced. Kicking off the long weekend with the @sinn_spezialuhren 157. I hunted for this watch for a long time and have had it a couple years now. It's still my favorite watch I own. Love the central minutes for the chronograph thanks to the Lemania 5100 movement powering the watch and no idea on the service history but it gains only about a second per day. . Any watches that took a long time to find the right one for you or watches you're on the hunt for? For me it's an Adanac Navigator that's in decent shape. Most tend to be very worn but they're kind of appealing too. ALAIN SILBERSTEIN KRONO BAUHAUS（KB7X01） アランシルベスタイン クロノ バウハウス 1998年 大丸心斎橋店の限定30本モデルらしい（調べても情報が少なく詳細不明） 通常のバウハウスとの違いは文字盤のカラーとアランのマリーンモデル等に使われるヒトデ型モチーフを秒針に配置されてる事 アランのカタログに載ってないモデルはいくつかありますが、コレもその１つ 搭載されてるムーブメントはレマニアcal.5100（LWO5100） シースルーの裏蓋からは黄色いヘビが見え、アラン流の遊び心にニンマリ バンド装着部のケースに凹みを入れる事により、非常に短いラグを実現しバンドとの一体感、装着感は良い 深いブルーの文字盤とヒトデ型秒針をぼ〜っと眺めてると、あたかも海底にいる様な気分にさせてくれます #lemania5100 #レマニア5100 #alainsilberstein #alainsilbersteinwatch #アランシルベスタイン
