A few shots from our recent trip to Portugal. Never going to get bored with being in The Library Studio which is west of Lisbon.We got our hands on Neumann U87 and when recording acoustic violin there is no better combination than James Dagless a U87 and a Neve 1073 preamp .Then of up into the mountains to Covilha to spend some time with the immensely talented Lu Tze (Rodrigo Pereira) who is working on a remix of Lemon Tree’s Opium, featuring Marco Rosa from Lemon Tree on electric violin.A really nice collaboration. We had a beautiful time making of music whilst surrounded by cats and dogs, very large Lemons and an abundance of cake. #lemontreemusic #recordingviolins #catsanddogs #cake
This shoot is forever GOATED for me for several reasons. It was just one of those super fun, ideal summertime in St Kilda moments. Beers, banter, sunsets, shenanigans. You kinda just had to be there! Lol. Beyond that and maybe Im reading too much into things here, but from where I was standing this was also quite a pivotal moment for Australian music at large - although we didn't know it at the time. Let me explain - this was also the last photoshoot (I believe) these guys did as Bonjah. They wound up the band (except for super special occasions, I've heard!) with their record Beautiful Wild later that year. I think David and Regan had already founded the humble beginnings of the musical powerhouse that is @lemontree_music . THE Lemon Tree Music who's mission was to take artists busking on the streets of Melbourne and give them careers. And then (after - what I imagine was a stack of blood, sweat, tears and hardwork) BOOM - 10 years later we have @piercebrothersmusic, @tashsultanaofficial , and @tonesandi amongst others. So yeah, maybe Im reading too much into this, and MAYBE Im inserting myself into someone else's story. But - in the fullness of time, it is a cool moment to look back on. At the time I was graciously lent the use of a very expensive Profoto Kit, which I promptly set up - precariously - on a St Kilda rooftop, needing several meters of extension cord to bring power to the floor pack. Im still kinda impressed with myself for this shoot! It was the first time I really understood the impact I could create using Off Camera Flash, and that has had a profound effect on the development of my style over the last 10ish years.

Good to see our Marco playing violin in this beautiful and intimate video of AMP project recording a demo in Portugal. The music is really nice as well. Marco happens to be a very busy boy. Apart from AMP Project & Lemon Tree, he plays violin in half a dozen other projects - ranging from classical (of course), through the kind of stuff we like to make, all the way to heavy metal. 2005 - Inner Vision in association with Glowing Flame Records (MK) as well as many other labels presented Universal Language, a party which was held on a Friday at Hotel Belvi, in Skopje. Line up featuring mostly artists & DJs from Glowing Flame Records, one of the earliest psychedelic trance labels to emerge from North Macedonia, from the town of Kumanovo. Paul played a lovely Lemon Tree set on the chillout stage, and as always he had a great time with his close friends and family in Macedonia. A deep and solid recorded Fender P bass and 5 guitar tracks from a Fender Stratocaster that form a tough riff. Guitars have been panned with the reverbs turning up on the opposite side giving width and movement. Some syncopated keys from a vintage Yamaha DX7 that have been re-amped and then recorded.
