Sometimes being an artist and a mom is the best fit in the world - I’m grateful for a career that is so flexible and I can freely choose when to give time to my daughter. Other times, it’s exhausting. E. comes with me everywhere, attached at my hip or pulling on my arms. I’m constantly balancing a double-focused mind - one eye on E., the other eye on the artistic task at hand. Like most parents, regardless of career, the nights consist of 4-6hrs of sleep. I forget to take time for myself (although you can see in my stories that right now I’m doing just that! Mama time!), and I burn out. This small sharing is just to say, be gracious towards yourself and kind towards others. You don’t know where they are on the “burn out scale”. Wouldn’t it be amazing if our kindness helped NOT tip someone over the edge? Also, a shoutout and thank you to @fairfoxes for capturing this moment! Around a patio table we gathered, we women who feel compelled to make something beautiful to offer the world, whether it's a bowl, a bit of embroidery, a watercolor, a conversation, a baby, mixed media from magazine scraps, or a first attempt at a rich yellow three layer cake.
