I'm currently working on some abstract canvases (as well as continuing with my ongoing series of winter trees), but sometimes it's nice to have a temporary change of subject and surface. This little landscape is on A6 watercolor paper. I love the clean lines you get by taping the edges!

After a busy week, a quiet afternoon to paint has been just what I needed! These little paintings are on paper, made with acrylics, oil pastel and pen.
I posted a little section of this painting the other day. This is where it's at now. Not sure if you can see, but it has one of my favourite quotes collaged in as part of the background: We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you've never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you're not, I hope you have the courage to start over again'.

Working on a painting at the moment, and am in love with this little section (the rest is driving me to despair, but that's another story 😂)
It's been too warm and sunny here to spend the day inside, so I've been limiting my painting sessions to 20 or 30 minutes. Revelation!! Having a time limit seems to encourage bolder moves, less over-thinking, and fresh eyes when I come back to it next time. This may be my new way of working! P.S. No idea where that pale pink came from, but I'm quite liking it!
I've missed a few days of my #100daysofpainting project due to being away, but managed to add another layer to this one today. This is part of a small series I've been working on and probably the furthest along, though it needs a few little adjustments still (I'm thinking of making the orange marks larger/stronger and possibly adding a touch of bright blue, but we'll see!)
Debating whether to add the word 'breathe' to this little wooden panel (it's not adhered yet, just trying it out). What do you think?

I've decided to join in with the 100 Day Project...but with a disclaimer! I am going to try and paint (nearly) every day, but I'll only be posting some of the work here. I've done the project once before, and found I was feeling pressure to produce something 'finished' every day. And that was during Covid, when I had more time for painting. So this time, I'm setting my own rules 😊 This one is acrylic/mixed media on paper, it's in a white 8 x10 inch mount, and it's for sale for £30.

I have no intention of leaving the house today. I'm dedicating the afternoon to painting, and tonight to binge watching the new series of 'You' on Netflix. And I'm not even going to feel guilty about leaving the chores til tomorrow 😁 I hope you're doing whatever makes you happy today!
I like the look of newsprint words in my mixed media paintings, and 'STRONG' and 'GENTLE' feel like they belong together (now I just need to decide exactly where to place them!)
Commissions and sales for Christmas are pretty much done and dusted at this point in December - which means when I get a spare hour to paint, I get to do whatever I feel like 😁 Mixed media - acrylics, pencil, pastel, newsprint - on paper.
Although it's not the technique I used, this painting reminds me of blowing paint through a straw at primary school 😂 An experiment with watery washes of acrylic on paper.
In general I'm a fairly tidy person, but when it comes to tiny scraps of paper I may be a candidate for Britain's Biggest Hoarder 🙄 In my defence, I do eventually use them and have lovely afternoons making little collages (and lots of mess!) Well Hello Folks. 🖐🖐🖐 It's been a while, so I thought it might be a good idea to (re)introduce myself (without this sounding like a dating profile)💕 My name is Tanisha Salakoh and I am a Contemporary Artist. I used to say 'I'm an artist trapped in the body of an accountant'. And although that is true, I never really gave myself enough credit. I am an accountant, yes. But I am also an Artist. Regardless of whether I do it full time, regardless of whether it is my primary source of income, regardless of what critics might say I am an Artist. Why? Because Art is my passion. It drives me. It gives me energy. It gives me life. And it is such an important part of my life (don't get me wrong, balancing a cash flow statement from time to time also brings a certain level of joy to my life...). But art keeps me grounded. It serves as an outlet for stress and anxiety. It is something that I try to do every day, in some shape or form. It's part of my routine. And I love every part of it...well maybe not cleaning the brushes...and sometimes walls.... But when I am painting I am filled with joy. All my problems, stress, worries, thoughts. They all dissipate. Its just me in the present moment. In the flow state. Where the artwork really comes to life. My dad always says 'let the canvas speak to you'. And when I truly and completely let go is when I have the most fun and create the most interesting, bizarre, and beautiful things. When I am creating, it feels natural. It feels right. And that's why I continue doing it❤💕💕💕 When I bought a mug a few years ago it told me "Do more of what you love".
