I left London for a reason - I'd enjoyed the good parts but was getting overwhelmed quite easily and needed a little more calm. But I am, in general, more extroverted than introverted, I just get anxious and in low moods. In the colder months, I find it easier? Can't quite explain but there's something softer about cities and larger spaces when the sun hides away. I want to be in areas with people when the floor is covered with discoloured leaves. I want to share in the energy when Christmas lights are being turned on and cider is being served along the Southbank. I didn’t talk much about my first fair experience because it wasn’t exactly a huge success. I wouldn’t call it a failure but I was a bit disappointed. It was an amazing learning experience though. Here’s why: I find it hilarious that I was so worried about running out of art prints when I only sold 3 🥲 I spent months prepping for this and only made enough money to cover the $65 vendor fee. I networked with other vendors and learned they weren’t selling much like me and that spring events haven’t been good for them the past couple years. Fall fairs are where the money is at since people are shopping for the holidays. Try as many markets as you can, you never know how well it will be or the types of customers that come there until you try. I learned children loved to play with my colorful pen display. I even experimented with pen placement to see how kids would react and lure their parents in 😅 I think I need one pricing board in addition to my individual price frames. I might be creating disorientation and confusion. Towards the end I started to hide myself in fear that I was spooking people off, and I still struggle with when to talk to the customer entering my booth because when I’m the customer I don’t like it when they are so salesy. I’ll need to work on that… The vendor beside me had the audacity to display items into my section and it freaking worked. Maybe six people in my booth played with her items then walked over into her booth. I was so surprised how often that worked. Lastly, my booth neighbors across the way thought I was a professional and loved my booth design even though they thought my booth got more attention than theirs 🥹 #journaling #marketsandfairs #catlovers #etsyartprints #boothdesign
