很興奮終於可以來分享第一個碩士作品，本次面具的靈感來自於個人身份，教授讓我們從intersectionality的角度來琢磨自己是誰？我的身份。而我本次主要從內向人格的角度來切入這次的作品。 我想身為一個內向的人，社交的距離是必要的存在，有一定距離的交流反而更能放鬆自在的相處，因此作品的基底是像鐵網一般的格紋鉤針。 再來作品中，鏡面也是元素之一，這代表著我的個性也同時意味人們在溝通時，永遠都是對方的一面鏡子。我們反映著對方的狀態/能量，而對方也是如此。 最後在作品的後方為鉤針軟雕塑的生物，生物從後方抓著頭部緊緊地用觸角綑綁。這是從intersectionality切入的第二個角度-身為女性，進入職場之後才深刻體會到，身為女性會經歷種種的歧視與不公。現在回想時，會懷疑自己是不是因為內向，因此不夠懂得為自己發聲。而每個觸角都代表著一個壓迫的經歷，而鏡面的修飾，是我對抗這些壓迫時對他們的反射。 #pewpew #textile #mfatextile #parsons #newyork #mfa #yarn #crochet #mask #textileart #knitwear #knit #knitting #crocheting #costume #costumeideas @parsonstextilesmfa @parsonsschoolofdesign
This is a headpiece inspired by my intersectionality. The crochet net base underneath is the ground element for an introverted personality like myself. Introverts need boundaries without covering their personality. Secondly, the mirror plays a major role in this artwork. Because I am shy and mostly because I am a woman, I am treated differently. Some superiors have said things that are not respectful and discriminated against. When I shared this story with Yelaine, she brought up that we are all mirrors of others. When it comes to communication, we reflect on who they are. I like to keep in mind that I am a mirror that reflects others. Last but not least, on the back of the piece, there is a creature grabbing the head. This creature is the pressure from an introverted woman. Each tentacle represents an experience I have had. For instance, people assume I am an assistant when I am the project manager after working for years. Or a family member says that I am old and should get married already.
