Fun Facts: • The Minnesota State Fair is the 2nd biggest state fair in the United States and just barely comes in behind Texas (which runs twice as long as ours!) • My husband worked at the Fresh French Fries booth for 10 years and is a 2 time Fry King. What does that mean? I’m not entirely sure…but hey, I do know that we get free fries for life 🍟 • There are roughly 25,000 ears of corn consumed daily by the Corn Roast vendor • Sweet Martha’s Cookie Jar makes 3,000,000 cookies daily • The most important fact of all: Nadine, who turns 90 this year, goes every year, ALL 12 DAYS! So what better way to celebrate a birthday than with cookies representing something she loves so much! ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY TIP - TIMING Talk to your photographer about what time of day would be best for your engagement photos. Many will tell you that the only time of day to get them taken is golden hour in the evening. This is not the case. We have had multiple clients that have actually done night time photos with us, as they love our night photos. This is clearly not for everyone, but we shoot engagement photography at sunrise, sunset, the middle of the day and at night. Another thing to keep in mind - it will only be golden hour for a short time on your wedding day. You want to be sure your photographer can shoot at any time of day.

Forget death and taxes. State fairgoers know two things in life are certain: 1) more food than you expect can be served on a stick and 2) state fair traffic is a nightmare. Brunch-on-a-stick will never go away, but some state leaders are trying to do something about stop-and-go traffic and the endless search for parking around the Minnesota State Fair. The House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee approved a bill Thursday that would require fair organizers to create a multimodal transportation plan for the 2024 fair to reduce congestion and parking shortages. I came across this while going through some things this week. I remember the concert, but I don't remember taking it. I remember after the fact, looking at the pictures from my little $20 Kodak digital camera thinking this was the coolest thing ever, a VERY pleasant surprise! My all-time favorite band during their Hottest Show on Earth Tour at the @mnstatefair in 2010. I always liked taking pictures at concerts, even though I knew that it was 90% likely that they weren't going to turn out. Maybe this is where the seed was planted that sometime later I was going to venture into photography? And concert photography at that, because what's better than live music? (Answer: no much) It's been an awfully quiet few months for me, but I'm still working on it. Usually, I'd get discouraged, but not this time.
