Classic Corn Dogs Ingredients: 12 hot dogs (turkey hot dogs recommended) 12 sticks for skewering Peanut oil, canola oil, or vegetable oil for frying Ketchup and mustard for serving Batter Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups fine yellow corn meal 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 3/4 cups buttermilk 1 large egg 1 Tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil 1 Tbsp honey Directions: Heat 2-3” of oil in a large pot or Dutch oven to 350˚F. Pat the hot dogs dry with paper towels and insert sticks into them. Whisk together the dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt). In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients (buttermilk, egg, oil, and honey). Combine the wet and dry ingredients and whisk until smooth. Pour the batter into a tall drinking glass and dip the hot dogs, fully coating them in batter. Carefully hold the corn dogs in the hot oil at an angle for 5-7 seconds to seal, then drop into the oil. The Spring Festival at Saint Margaret Mary in Cedar Park, Texas took place today. Even with a torrential downpour at the beginning of the day, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the parishioners that turned out. All sorts of fair food was served, but my favorites were the papusas with curtido (stuffed masa with a slaw like salad), Filipino egg rolls and noodles, and refreshing Agua Frescas (pineapple and watermelon). Whip up some homemade Corn Dogs! 🌟 Ingredients: • 8 hot dogs • 1 cup all-purpose flour • 1 cup yellow cornmeal • 1/4 cup granulated sugar • 1 tablespoon baking powder • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1 cup milk • 1 egg • Vegetable oil, for frying • Wooden skewers or popsicle sticks Directions: 1.
