EMMA WESTON ‘My practice stems from repeated journeys of outdoor urban locations, focussing on objects, structures and textures typically found within these areas. This theme of repetition is used to question the seemingly mundane, everyday encounters of my surroundings such as things spotted from my commute into the city centre, or streets from my childhood in Nottingham. These often depict industrial buildings, graffitied walls and bricks. The nature of this theme challenges me to investigate deeper observations, discovering details that are otherwise likely overlooked. AMY DIPPLE ‘Exploring identity through a non-traditional artistic approach is the most important aspect of my practice. Using oil paint and embroidery I capture different interiors with no figurative forms. Rather than relying on human representation, I use inanimate objects to construct narratives that explore individual identities. I use natural and unplanned scenes to get the most raw and true reflection of one’s identity. By using a combination of gestural and finer brushstrokes I direct the audiences attention towards the most vital objects within the interior scene, which have been chosen carefully to expose the identity being explored. I avoid forcing the audience to understand an identity in a certain way by intentionally not exposing them to any background information about the individuals being portrayed in my artworks. Most of my artwork remains untitled giving an intentional ambiguity that encourages viewers to explore the placement and significance of objects within the scene. I make large scale biomorphic sculptures and infuse drawings and writings which act as languages that inform the audience about the sculptures. I create monsters and deities and display them as an abstract piece. I’m interested in exploring the organic complexities inherent in biomorphic sculptures. The conventional boundaries linking form and decomposition, invites viewers to immerse themselves in a dialogue between nature and abstraction. I create these narratives by coding language into these forms I create using different mark making techniques, drawings and writings. Each language inscribed differs from each other the way our genes differ from others. Like a toy maker, I breathe life into these forms, prompting contemplation on the interconnectedness of all living things. Following the principles of object-oriented ontology, I encounter found materials and learn them enough to create languages for them. It then becomes a synchronized learning between material and artist. Object and woman. My creative process is a journey of intuition, as I allow the materials to guide me towards unanticipated outcomes. NOAH TEHUSIJARANA 🔪 💀 🫦 Noah’s project, A Secret from Kramat Tunggak was born out of a desire to shed light on the darker parts of his hometown’s history. Set in Jakarta in 1985, the project draws inspiration from turn of the century films set against the backdrop of political unrest such as Wong Kar Wai’s Fallen Angels. NINA SCHEMBRI ‘My work aims to reconstruct our preconceived knowledge of materiality, texture and the process of making with combining found and discarded items through traditional craft techniques. The AI’s algorithm reinterprets my work in context of the given text prompt, adding distortions. The distortions of artificial creativity further convey a fragmentation of the self and perceptions in a world that has merged with its digital counterpart. My work peels at the layers of a newly found reality, questioning its perceived inauthenticity compared to a true, physical life. The digital image from pictures of real things is reinterpreted by an AI to then be utilised in new collages. They are then fragmented into its layers, pulling the picture apart from the seams and peeling off the pixels. The fragments are cut into wood planes and the image painted with oil, an homage to the status of traditional painting within contemporary art. My process-driven paintings are a testament to the beauty found in the unpredictable. Beginning with a blank canvas, I relinquish control to a randomiser device, allowing it to determine the subject matter of each composition. This surrender to the whims of fate infuses my work with an element of serendipity, unveiling unexpected narratives and harmonies. Once the subject emerges, I immerse myself in the act of creation, employing various techniques and mediums to bring the vision to life. Each brushstroke is a dialogue between conscious choice and subconscious impulse, resulting in a rich tapestry of textures and colours. The journey doesn’t end there. Embracing the ethos of transformation, I meticulously cut, snap and smash the paintings then rearrange them, reshaping into new abstract forms. Her first project, Immurus, takes the short story “Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe and adapts it to the setting of Ancient Rome. Her set takes us into catacombs under the great city. Her second project, Non Résolu, follows the true crime mystery of Louis LePrince who mysteriously disappeared before he could reveal his invention of the motion picture camera. This project allowed her to research Victorian architecture and time period. She has created the exterior of the train station using different architectural styles from Cairo, Spain and combining it with gothic design elements. Celebrating World Earth Day at NTU | MPB On April 22, 2024, the Master's Program in Biodiversity, together with the International Jane Goodall Institute and Otis MTMC, hosted an inspiring event on campus in honor of World Earth Day. 🌿🌍 The event wasn't just about raising awareness but deepening our connection with nature and promoting environmental sustainability. Participants embarked on a journey of understanding, wearing blindfolds to experience the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. 🌱 Guided by volunteers and educators, visually impaired children explored ecosystems, using their senses of touch, smell, and taste to identify plants and listen to the symphony of nature. 🌳 The feedback from volunteers and participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the educational significance of the event. 台大一年一度的 #椰林辦桌 上菜啦～～😍 歷經去年慘烈的菜色🥲今年整個level up起來🔥 身為畢業生那是一定要共襄盛舉一下(˶‾᷄ ⁻̫ ‾᷅˵) 菜色紀錄如下（未按照上菜順序）： ✔️古味石斑魚 魚肉軟嫩入味 破布子的味道濃郁 魚刺不多 對於很怕挑刺的我來說 吃魚不用挑太多魚刺 真一大福音呀 魚肉新鮮無腥味 馬上被秒殺的一道菜😂 ✔️蒜泥鮮紅蟳 蒜蓉跟海鮮根本絕配😍 一人半隻紅蟳 蟹肉不多 主要是吃氣味 畢竟是平常吃不到的菜 所以還是吃的很開心😆 ✔️圓龍糯米飯 糯米飯本體不錯吃 就是份量有點少 10個人吃有點沒吃飽🥹 如果糯米飯中再多加點香菇和蝦米應該會更香 ✔️藥膳燉土雞 既古早味石斑魚後最愛的一道菜😍 雞的精華完美融入在湯中 喝起來特別鮮甜美味🤤 雞肉軟嫩不柴 湯頭夠熱！起碼喝了兩碗以上！舒服😌 ✔️肉醬淋龍蝦 龍蝦肉質Q彈 不會吃起來綿綿的 跟肉醬的味道不會不搭 在學校吃到龍蝦算另類的成就達成（？😂 肉醬因為帶有龍蝦的鮮味 麵體扒附醬汁也好吃🤤 ✔️麻油爆雞腰 人生第一次吃雞佛就獻給它了😂 雞佛完全沒腥味 但也沒什麼味道 吃起來像豆花的口感 同桌友人很喜歡這道菜 因為平常吃不到 ✔️煙燻茶鵝盤 吃起來鹹香夠味 可惜肉量不多 不然就更讚了 很適合當下酒菜的一道菜🤤 ✔️鴻福拼盤（前菜） 第一道菜 就看的出來跟去年不一樣 還記得去年是很簡陋的鋁箔紙碗 配上幾個不知所以然的前菜⋯ 這次直接升級 各種精緻海鮮冷盤 除了視覺美觀外 味道也不馬虎 其中最喜歡麻辣中卷☺️💗 ✔️荷香蔭軟排 看起來一般般 吃起來驚艷的一道菜 排骨超級軟嫩又入味 味道有點像港點豉汁排骨的放大版 吃了好幾塊🤤舒服😌 （跑去看壞特的表演來不及拍到完整的照片😂） ✔️美味巧甜品 甜點有兩個：冰淇淋和麻糬 杜老爺巧克力冰淇淋🍦直接屌打去年的中華豆花了😂 另一個還加碼麻糬ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ 拿到立馬一口吞 結果差點噎到🤣🤣🤣 趕緊喝口酒壓壓驚 好險沒事( ^ω^ ) — 包含甜點總共吃了10道菜 其中四道菜有海鮮 三道菜有肉 雖然沒有青菜😂但可以理解 畢竟洗菜和保存相對不方便 要吃菜的話平常去外面吃就有了 這次辦桌的菜確實是平常吃不到的菜色 感受到台大畢聯會滿滿的用心！ 而且感受得到有試過菜！ 因為味道真的不馬虎 不會過鹹或過油之類的 擺盤也有在講究👍🏻 雖然說是最後一屆的椰林辦桌 私心還是希望可以延續下去🥹 PS.最後一頁圖片菜單 資料來源自臺大畢聯會臉書 #台大美食公道伯 #ntufoodgod #台大 #ntu #椰林辦桌 #台灣大學 #椰林大道 #辦桌 #臺大 #臺大美食 #臺灣大學
103 cidades do Brasil têm algum tipo de tarifa gratuita de #ônibus. 35% dos municípios que adotaram a medida têm mais de 50 mil habitantes. O município de #Luziânia, localizado em Goiás, entrou recentemente para a lista das 103 cidades brasileiras de adotaram a "Tarifa Zero" no serviço de #transporte coletivo realizado por ônibus. A #prefeitura liberou as catracas e passou a oferecer transporte gratuito para quem deseja se locomover na cidade desde 27 de novembro de 2023. Um levantamento feito pela Associação Nacional das Empresas de Transportes Urbanos ( #NTU) em novembro do ano passado mostrava que, no país, dos 26 estados brasileiros e o Distrito Federal, 14 possuem municípios que adotam a tarifa zero, seja de maneira universal (nos sete dias da semana) ou em dias determinados da semana ou para grupos específicos, totalizando 103 cidades. O levantamento mostra ainda que o perfil das cidades que adotaram a tarifa zero é de poucos habitantes. A maioria, cerca de 65%, tem menos de 50 mil moradores e está concentrada na região Sudeste, sobretudo em São Paulo e Minas Gerais. 103 cidades em 14 estados já adotam a catraca zero. Pelo menos 88 municípios brasileiros têm catracas 100% liberadas, ou seja, tarifa liberada par todos em qualquer dia da semana, segundo a NTU. Também de acordo com a NTU, capitais não tem grande adesão à nenhuma modalidade de tarifa zero nos ônibus: apenas 5 adotam o sistema e com restrições. São elas: Em Belo Horizonte (MG), as tarifas são zeradas somente nas linhas que atendem vilas e comunidades periféricas; Em #Florianópolis (SC), as tarifas são zeradas apenas no último domingo de cada mês; Em São Luís (MA), somente trabalhadores com cartão do Programa Expresso Trabalhador não pagam passagem; Em #Maceió (AL) as tarifas são zeradas para todos apenas aos domingos; Em #Palmas (TO), as catracas são livres apenas aos domingos e feriados. #tarifazero #transportecoletivo #prefeituradeluziania #catracazero
