La bergeronnette grise (Motacilla alba) est un petit passereau de nos régions. Insectivore, elle se nourrit de moustiques, mouches ou fourmis qu'elle attrape en vol ou picore à même le sol. Territoriale la majeure partie de l'année, elle se regroupe toutefois en collectifs durant l'été et l'automne. Elle niche de Avril à Août, dans des trous d'arbres, des berges, des cavités rocheuses ou encore des infrastructures humaines : ponts, toitures, murs de pierre, bâtiments... C'est une espèce liée aux milieux ouverts, presque toujours à proximité des habitations humaines et proche d'un point d'eau. Cette espèce est protégée sur l'ensemble du territoire français. Najczęściej występuje na skrajach borów, tam gdzie rosną borowiny. Motyl jest dosyć płochliwy, lata nisko nad ziemią, często przysiadając na krzaczkach borówek. Cwaniak nieźle się maskuje, dlatego dajcie sobie trochę czasu na grę w zielone, bo naprawdę warto. 🌿 Pünktlich zum Tag der Arbeit legen wir unsere Arbeit nieder, zumindest im Garten und auf unseren Wildblumenwiesen. 🌸🌼🌻 Mach auch du mit beim No-Mow-May, oder Mähfreiem Mai! 🌼 Die Idee stammt aus England, wo der traditionelle kurzgeschorene Rasen im Garten fast schon Pflicht ist. Dabei kann man für die Natur und unsere Insekten fast nichts Besseres tun als einfach mal Nichts. Schon ein Monat Wildwuchs kann einen positiven Effekt auf die Biodiversität haben. 🦗🦋 Wer nicht auf den eigenen Fußballrasen verzichten will, sucht sich geeignete "wilde" Inseln im Garten und genießt so die entspannende Vielfalt. 🌳 Um eine echte Wildblumenwiese entstehen zu lassen, braucht es aber tatsächlich auch nicht viel. Oft reicht eine geeignete Pflegeumstellung oder die Einsaat von heimischen Wildblumen. Gemäht wird dann nur noch einmal im Jahr, am besten nach der Margariten-Blüte. 🌼 Das erspart eine Menge Arbeit und bringt trotzdem ein tolles Ergebnis! Bei Bedarf, je nach Untergrundbedingungen, erfolgt noch ein Schnitt im Spätherbst oder Frühjahr. Wichtig ist, dass das Schnittgut abgetragen wird. Preserving biodiversity is not only important for farming, but also to ensure food security as most insects are intimately connected to food production. As an indication 75% of food crops rely on animal pollination for fertilization. 🐛Therefore, the Demeter standard stipulates that at least 10% of farmland must be left wild or dedicated to biodiversity. Through good management and conservation practices such as long-term grassland or insect and bird shelter biodiversity is preserved and enhanced. 🐦Next to these good management practices, the use of any chemical inputs, fertilizers, or pesticides, as well as GMOs, is also strictly prohibited. With Upcycle, the aim is to put bigger issues of sustainability and regenerative design under the spotlight in a creative way. A select group of local designers and artists, including members of Tétris’s own local and international teams, has been tasked with breathing new life into discarded office equipment and furniture pieces. @visi_mag ㅤ Upcycle aims to demonstrate how design has the potential to embrace circularity to shape more conscious workspaces. A pioneering response to the issue, it takes the form of a provocative exhibition that was staged in Cape Town, South Africa, and presented by leading global property development company JLL and its subsidiary, interior design firm Tétris Design and Build. @tetrisdesignxbuild ㅤ The exhibition’s participants included Congolese artist Patrick Bongoy, sisters Viveka and Rucita Vassen of Ananta Design Studio, Nisha and Justus van der Hoven of Hoven Design, Laurie Wiid of Wiid Design, Amaury Watine, who is the Creativity and Innovation Director Tétris EMEA, Adrian Davidson, Design Director Tétris EMEA, as well as two Senior Interior Designers from Tétris South Africa, Helen Wentzel and Tshepiso Lesufi. ㅤ Our studio designed and manufactured a contemporary interpretation of a functional birdhouse. In the Ruapehu region, we find ourselves in climate zone 6, where harsh frosts and occasional snow are common during the winter months. Currently, we're engaged in experimenting with plants that push the boundaries of what's feasible in this zone. With the protection provided by the tree lucerne and eucalyptus, this upcoming winter will serve as a crucial test for the viability of various species. However, it's worth noting that the eucalyptus haven't yet reached the canopy layer, indicating that further experimentation will be ongoing. Here, we have a curry tree, scientifically known as Bergera koenigii. It's surrounded by a protective circle of radish, onion, and sage at the base, with tree lucerne and eucalyptus offering further shelter above. Despite experiencing several frosts (albeit not harsh ones) already, the curry tree remains resilient. t’s No Mow May! 🌸🌼🌷Why not let your grass go a little wild for the month, do the pollinators a favour and make some time to frolic amongst the wildflowers. Many of us can give a huge boost to local biodiversity by allowing a bit of the wild in to our gardens! This doesn’t mean you have to totally give up on managing your garden or that that is what’s best. It’s about being ecologically strategic with what we do. Mowing is not all bad, its just replicating grazing animals, the professionals recommend strategically mowing (and removing the grass clippings) a few times a year to create wildflower meadows. If your curious to see what happens but want to keep things tidy- try a ‘Some Mow May’ (not quite as catchy, I know, but a practical approach) Some of my top tips are to: 🟢Meep mowing paths for walking around the garden. That way your feet stay dry and you can move around easily to see which new species and insects have turned up 🟢 Mow around the edges, a neat border can make an ENORMOUS difference to the aesthetics of a garden. A beautiful patch of wildflower meadow framed by some neatly trimmed grass. Lovely stuff. It indicates you are intentionally leaving some spaces to go wild and ensures the garden still looks managed. 🟢 Leave some areas to grow, and continue to mow another. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, a neatly mowed lawn can be undeniably beautiful and very useful for many activities in the garden.
