Well here it is, my new car! It’s a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera SL with only 42K miles! I bought this car from a friend of @gm_marks_of_excellence and he did a lot of work to this car, including: New tires, new fuel lines, and other general repairs. Now she isn’t perfect. I have a lot of cleaning to do on the inside since this car sat for so long and a lot of the clearcoat has peeled off on the rear of the car but mechanically wise, she’s pretty straight. I can’t wait to get my new Ciera Registered and bring it on many new adventures!! 1989 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity Sedan - 40126V Hello friends. You might recognize this car but it is nothing like the car sold in the US. This is a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity. This was the last year model the Celebrity was sold. Under the hood is a 2.8L V6 engine. The car was not sold in Mexico with the 4 cylinder engine. Linked to the V6 engine is a 4 speed manual transmission. This one is a bit of a stripper model. The base instruments are present. You have idiot lights in place of gauges. An important option this car has is factory air conditioning. Some did not have it. The car has traveled 175,000 KM (108,739 Miles) over the past 35 years. The car does have the optional wheels while the spare is the stock steel wheel. You might notice there is no rust on this car at all. Where this car lives rust is not an issue. This is not a restored car. It is all original and is a 2 owner car as proven by the original invoice that comes with the car. 2 new tires are on the car and the other two are still in good condition. 1986 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport Coupe - 30722V Have you had one of these? If so it wasn't like this one. Here we have a 1986 Celebrity Eurosport. Under the hood is the 2.8L V6 which was the largest engine they had for these cars at the time. Inside you will find a 4 speed manual transmission. They did not sell this configuration in the US. If you got a stick shift it was behind a 4 cylinder engine and the car was a stripper. You might recognize the wheels as having come on the Pontiac cars in the US, the 6000, Fiero, Sunbird and the like. This is the wheel that came on this car from the factory and it doesn't say PONTIAC anywhere on it. You can see the car needs paint. What Celebrity from this time doesn't. The paint used was not made to last. The car needs a major detail and you might be able to get by with a paint correction. Another thing the car will need before taking it on a cross country drive is a set of tires, just to be safe. The steering wheel you see here is the factory wheel for the Eurosport package. The car still has its original AM/FM cassette stereo. Most cars had gone to the digital readout by now, but I guess Mexico was a bit behind the times there. If this one needs too much work for you I can find another one that is cleaner. 1989 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity Sedan - 30701T This would be the last year the Celebrity would be made. This car was what took over for the Malibu even though they were sold side by side for a few years. Under the hood is a 2.8L V6 and as you can see from the pictures it is a 5 speed on the floor. The car is equipped with factory air and has traveled only 172,000 KM (106,875 Miles) since new. This is not a fully loaded car as it had manual windows and does not have the gauge package. You can see from the picture of the trunk floor how solid it is. Generally speaking rust isn't an issue with most areas of Mexico. I believe the wood steering wheel was original to this car. I have seen it in many of these cars. This is an original car. It has not been painted or reupholstered. They are only original once. The wheels look similar to a wheel that came on the early US Spec Celebrity's but these are a bit different. This configuration was not available for sale in the US especially not as late as 1989. Actually the Oldsmobile name wasn't used either, so this is a Chevrolet Cutlass Eurosport. Under the hood is a 3.1L V6 and it is an automatic. The car has 223,389 KM (138,807 Miles). The 223,389 looks like a big number but we know that 138K miles is not a lot for one of these cars. The car is wearing after market wheels from its time. With a little bit of touch up on the paint and a paint correction this car would shine. The grey vinyl buckets have had some green cloth inserts put in. They give it a different look. This is the ultimate Cutlass Eurosport. We have a 2 door coupe with a 3.1L V6 and a 5 speed manual. What more could you want? This is a gorgeous color on this car and really stands out. If you are familiar with these cars from the US you might recognize the wheels as being from a Pontiac 6000 however they were the wheels that came on this car from the factory. While this car doesn't have super low miles, it does have 190,000 KM (118,060 Miles) which is low miles for the year. If you have one of these cars when they were new, you were the man. This one is an automatic however a manual was sold and quite of few were optioned that way. There is 180,300 KM (112,033 Miles) on this car. That 180,300 looks like a high number but it isn't really. The interior is two tone grey cloth buckets. They need a major cleaning but they are intact. The car is wearing its original wheels and all four center caps are present. 1989 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity 30212I It is amazing I have found so many Chevrolet Celebrity's in such good condition. Here is another one. This car has a 2.8L V6 under the hood. I am pretty sure it is a 5 speed manual but it could be a 4 speed. So many of these cars came in this blue. Rental companies had hundreds of these when they were new in the states, with automatics, of course. This is the last year for the Celebrity sedan. The wagon went for one more year. The Lumina replaced this car and I am not sure that was an upgrade. It was more rounded for sure. On the clock is 143,529 KM (89,184 Miles) which isn't a lot for a 34 year old car. The wheel covers are from an early '80's Malibu. This car does have factory air which is the only option you need. It will last another 40 years as is with the V6 manual combination. 1989 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity 30129K This model wasn't sold in the US. Now wait. I am sure a lot of you had one of these at the time. Well not like this you didn't. If a Celebrity had a manual transmission in the US it was a base 4 cylinder car if you could even get one. The Celebrity in Mexico was never sold with a 4 cylinder engine. The car always had the V6 that was offered that year. This car is silver. While I hate silver cars, not everybody does. The seller of the car says these are factory original wheels. I don't think that is correct. The barrel key lock on the left quarter panel is the alarm you got with your Mexican Celebrity. If somebody opened the door the loud alarm would go off. That is all you got. The lines on the headlights are not cracks. It was common, or is common, to attach wires around the headlights to prevent them from being stolen. One way to tell if one of these cars has been in an accident is if the bumpers are not straight. Both bumpers on this car are not drooping on either end. Because of the stick shift this car came with the grey cloth bucket seats and while they are a bit dirty, they are intact, as is the rear seat. The car has traveled only 189,000 KM (117,439 Miles) in the last 34 years. This is not an exciting car but it will get all the eyes at the car show. Nobody will have seen one like this. 1989 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity Sedan 21218R Here we have an interesting car. 1989 was the last year the Celebrity sedan was produced. The wagon, in the US, lasted one more year. Under the hood of this 3 owner beauty is a 2.8L V6. The car is equipped with a manual transmission. The US Spec cars were not available like this. The car is in very good condition all the way around. It has only traveled 137,172 KM (85,572 Miles). The wheel covers look to be from an early '80's Malibu but they very well could have come on this car in this year. I don't know what the red and yellow stripes are all about on the car. The car appears to have factory air which a lot of these did not. Honestly the interior could use some cleaning. This looks like a very comfortable car to drive and the stick shift makes it a little fun. Have you ever seen a Celebrity speedometer go up to 200? If you drive this car it will make you a Celebrity. 1985 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity CL Sedan I bet you haven't seen a car like this. Yes we have all seen 1985 Celebrity's. This one in particular is a 4 door with a 2.8L V6 under the hood. It is really clean for the year. The dark green was not a common color and the light green interior was even less common. What makes this car extra rare is the manual transmission. It also makes this car fun to drive. This was the same drive train used in the Beretta GTU in 1988. I can see the center vent is blocked off on the dash which means the car has no factory air. This car has the CL package. What is included with that package, I am not sure. I don't know mow many miles the car has traveled but I expect it is not a lot. A lot of these cars were just for city driving. Not a lot of people did a lot of highway travel in the '80's. The wheel covers look like the Malibu wheels covers but they might have been used on this car from new. They look good on this car. 1995 Mexican Spec Oldsmobile Ciera Eurosport International These A Body GM cars are largely forgotten. This model was a Mexico only car. The Eurosport package was never sold on the Oldsmobile car in the US. The package includes ground effects in the front, rear and on both sides. The front bumper is unique to the Eurosport package as is the rear bumper. The sides have a panel that makes the car a little wider. Inside you have all the buttons you could want. I don't know what they do but they are there in front of the shifter. Under the hood is a 3.1L V6 and we all know how dependable that is. There is only 115,000 KM (71,457 Miles) so it has a long life ahead of it. This one is a floor shifted automatic but they were available in the manual transmission as well. A 4 door version of the Ciera, all of these were called the Cutlass, Eurosport was also sold. This car could use a really good detail, but other than that it is ready to go. This is as fully loaded as you could get however there is no cruise control. As I have said before most Mexican cars do not do a lot of highway driving so that option was not needed. 1986 Mexican Spec Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport Most of us are familiar with these cars. At some point in our automotive lives we have all had a Celebrity, Century, 6000, or Ciera. This Mexican Spec car is a little bit if a mystery to me. The seller says this is an all original car. There is only one problem with that statement and that is the car has a 1987 front end on it. I have a hard time believing Mexico got the new front end one year before the US. I have checked the VIN and the 10th digit is "G" which indicates the car was built for the 1986 model year. Under the hood the car looks as perfect as the rest of the car. I see no previous accident damage which is usually the reason somebody would update the front end of a vehicle. With all that being said, this is a special car. It is a 2 door model which very few of the US Spec cars were. It is also a stick shift with a 2.8L V6 which almost none of the US Spec cars were. You had to wait until 1987/1988 for the Beretta for that combination. Those are the wheels the car was born with. You might know them as a Pontiac wheel, but not in Mexico. I think this is the ultimate Celebrity. It has every option you could want on one. The car has cool wheels, factory air, a 4 speed on the floor, soft cloth seats, a cool "Mexico only" Eurosport steering wheel and of course an AM/FM cassette stereo with reverse capability. 1995 Mexican Spec Oldsmobile Ciera Eurosport Sedan This was the sporty car to have in 1995. The Celebrity did not exist in 1995 so Oldsmobile had taken over the Eurosport moniker by this time. This is a sedan edition, however they also came in a 2 door. Under the hood is a 3.1L V6 with an automatic transmission. This car was also offered with a stick shift. This car looks like it has had a paint job recently and new wheels and tires have been installed. This would be a perfect daily driver and I know for a fact it is a great highway car. You will see International badges on this. I am not sure what was included in that package, but it is there. Please note the car is fully loaded however there is no cruise control. What we have here is a Ciera Eurosport 2 door, 3.1L V6 and with a manual transmission. Those wheels look like Pontiac 6000 wheels, but they are the original wheels that came on this car. The color is great on this car. Inside is the grey cloth most of these had. There might be a few adjustments this car needs but this is THEE car for this style. Under the hood is the 3.1L V6. No 4 cylinder engines were used in any of these Mexican cars. I have bought and sold many of these cars but in the US. They were very good driving cars, but they are all but forgotten now. This car seems to be reasonably nice. There is only 164,000 (101,904 Miles) on the clock right now.
