(1983 Zimmer Golden Spirit)🇺🇸 Well…this is a first for the page. We have come across our very first neoclassical car on this page. What is a neoclassical car? Well, back in the 1970s and 80s. Money was seen as a disposable commodity. The era of excess and flamboyant consumption of flashy goods often brought a fascinating remembrance of the golden era of the 1930s rich life. During this time, second hand companies like Zimmer capitalized on taking ordinary cars like Ford Mustangs, Mercury Cougars, and other American cars and making them look as if they came straight out of The Great Gatsby era. This is a Zimmer Golden Spirit. Underneath the fake fiberglass fenders, fake side exhaust pipes and silly fake spare tire covers lies a Fox Body Mustang. Yep! The conversion of these cars was pretty insane. Adding over 2,500 pounds to the original curb weight, the original performance aspect is entirely drowned by plushy leather pillow-top upholstery and wood. The engine in this car would still be the 5.0L Windsor V8 with a dual barrel carburetor making the same gutless 205hp. The transmission would be the same Ford 4 speed automatic because of course….Most of these unsightly 1980s era neoclassical eyesores have mostly all been destroyed due to the extremely fowl build quality like rust, cracks, and many of the aftermarket add-ons just failing. Yet some examples like this Zimmer still exist. Mostly still remain in this unkept condition as the demand for these cars isn’t worth the trouble trying to find or make the flashy parts this car has.
