ST STITHIANS ROWING SUCCESS The culmination of each rowing season is marked by the prestigious South African Schools Rowing Championships held in early March. This event serves as a platform where the remarkable talents of our rowers are showcased, earning them spots in either the U16 South African Schools Rowing Union (SASRU) Squad or the U19 Gauteng School Rowing Federation (GSRF) Provincial trials. We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the unwavering dedication of our rowers, coaches, and parents throughout the season, St Stithians College Rowing produced an outstanding total of 19 athletes who were invited to participate in the SASRU tour and U19 GSRF provincial trials. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and passion displayed by our rowing community. Among these exceptional athletes, 10 were selected to represent the SASRU team who will be touring to the UK in May. Meanwhile, the U19 trials, which took place over the month of March, provided an opportunity for our athletes to compete for a spot in the GSRF provincial team. Moving on from this achievement, our U19 rowers will be racing at the South African National Selection Regatta in mid-May in the hopes of being selected to represent South Africa at the Junior Rowing World Championships in August this year. ｜三年前，我成為了鏡粉 - 帶著覺知的迷與迷 by Kiara | 三年前的昨天，我正式成為了鏡粉，清楚記得是因為我在那天在IFC買了一隻小卓賢。 最記得朋友聽到我買小卓賢，我說要等幾個月才收到，朋友笑說到時你還喜歡他（們）嗎？ 三個月又三個月。然後轉眼，已經三年了。 由沒有追開星，頂多只是去去演唱會買下碟的廣東歌迷，加上以前的工作是不時會見到明星。追星對我來說實在太遙遠的事，舉燈牌、叫口號甚至拍fan cam (以前最憎人演唱會影相，現在請看看我的飯拍，雖然影得很一般🤭），第一次做這些動作時我都有種「wow，你做咩呀？」到最近有次甚至幫手度口號😆（非鏡） 4月17日，大概是拍攝調教你Mirror 出camp的日子，從身心靈角度，我覺得那個camp是align 隊員間的頻率，調頻過後，我的頻率跟Mirror的頻率對上了。 認得每一張臉、他們的「朵」到認識不同的CP以至每個人的心路歷程，從每天考古當中，他們由一班陌路人漸漸變日我生活一部分的人。 昨日看了前進進的《燃燒的星與迷的圖像》，先以講述劇場(Lecture Performance) 去講fandom（迷文化）。編劇到演出的演員是鏡粉，第一次看一個演出，有種將自己這幾年的心路歷程娓娓道出的感覺，我直言當中的爭扎其實從前很少同人分享。因為還在熱烈追鏡的朋友可能覺得我不愛了，本身沒有追星的朋友跟本不明我煩惱什麼。 煩惱？ 追星不是求開心嗎？ 原來不知不覺間，我由追星而被療癒變成了我的情緒跟鏡仔甚至鏡圈連繫著。正如演出其中一段講到，其實只要遠離這個圈子，圈中所有的事情，誰有沒有底褲著，誰跟誰一起代言都與我無關。 而入團坑，身在圈中，對每個鏡仔的人生攻擊，我聽入耳都覺心痛，而我作為團粉也不會將那些不適情緒投擲返出去任何一家或鏡仔身上，如何跟內在的不適感自處也成為了日常的練習。 至於對外，由追鏡仔（哪怕12個都認不出）變成潮流到在口中掌握鏡仔「唔掂」的資訊加上自己觀點是新趨勢，面對將Mirror物化，就如當年的雞蛋仔、葡撻和珍妮曲奇，以一個鏡粉的身分在社群中又是如何去定位。 這幾天在思考如何去參與（因為keep住在thread就某些議題發文）， 一場斷捨離就可以撇得一乾二凈，為什麼還在圈子中？ （遠離鏡圈保平安，而我覺得繼續支持偶像同身處飯圈中可以是分開的行爲。） 想想下，開始有點頭緒。2020年開始發覺自己有感通、可以開阿卡西紀錄，整整一年都很少見人，但對住山山水水、對住小貓小狗要講大愛、講合一其實很容易。 站在一個圈子中，不同年齡、背景的人，既不要放高自己去批判別人，又時刻保持清醒不要隨便被風向帶走，還有每時每刻面對自己的慾念（見到真人想近些見，近些想有飯撒，然後想合照、對話，繼而想他記得你），帶著覺知去「迷」，就很容易感到迷失 : 一個人很理性地知道自己唔理性。（演出用「迷」代替「追星」去講fandom我自己覺得更為貼切） 大概鏡圈也是一個道場，或者這正正是一個場景讓我進一步去扎實我的修行，今天跟朋友說最近在thread寫文如何不會引戰同時帶到一些思考給自己和看到文章的鏡粉本身就是一門藝術。人可以離開一個圈子，一走了之，留低，正如靈魂繼續留低在地球就是為了去經歷、為了去體驗。 如果迷本身是一場體驗，演出又帶出一個問題？參與fandom 過後，留得低的是什麼？我們會一起到老嗎？還是一天，他們又會變成人生中的陌路人。 有點像阿卡西紀錄，無論記憶如何模糊，又有了幾多新的體驗，在某一維度與時空中，實實在在，有一班陌生人與一班陌生人在深愛和守護著彼此。 感恩每一件事成為了我的老師， 感恩這幾年認識的每一個你。 我覺得共鳴本身就是一場療癒，感恩這個劇場作品在我成為鏡粉的三週年，為我做了一個很好的梳理🙏🏻 謝謝你 我愛你 🪶 #mirrorweare #miro #鏡粉 #lokmanyeung #ansonkong #frankiechan #stanleyyau #altonwong #jerlau #ianchan #ansonlo #jeremylee #edanlui #keungto #tigeryau #Day0 #mirrorfeelthepassionconcerttour2024 #Rumours #weallare #weare #oneandall #allinone #reflection #catchavibe #sheesh #rocketstar #12 #innerspace #一秒間 #破鏡

TERM 1 HIGHLIGHTS - JOHANNESBURG JUNIOR COUNCIL – SUCCESSIVE MAYORS FROM SAINTS We are delighted to announce our that our St Stithians College is well represented on the Johannesburg Junior Council. St Stithians Boys’ College student Aarav Ganesh has been appointed as the Mayor of the Johannesburg Junior Council for the upcoming term. He succeeds Darien Naidoo who now concludes his term of office. This notable achievement is made even more special as this is the first time that successive Mayors have been appointed from the same school. We congratulate Darien on his successful term and wish Aarav everything of the best for his time in office. In addition, Tshimologo Mokoena succeeds Rixongile Chinkanda as a Councillor for the upcoming term of office. We also wish to congratulate St Stithians Girls’ College students Denise Mhangami (Gr 10) and Zamakhosi Obiri (Gr 10) who have been selected to be a part of the Johannesburg Student Council. The student council falls under the office of the speaker. This group of high school learners are Johannesburg's future leaders, that seek to give a voice to the youth of the city. The council seeks to raise issues and possible solutions specific to high-school learners. At the same time they are learning everything about local government, from how political decisions take effect to the duties and responsibilities of everyone involved. TERM 1 HIGHLIGHTS - BOYS’ PREP INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS Our Boys’ Prep students really got into the swing of things during the two days of Inter-house Athletics earlier this term. Spirits were high as boys supported their Houses by dressing up, performing their war cries, and putting their all into their events on the field. Kent came out on top with 1046, with the other 3 houses coming in close to each other, with Leake second (972), Hall third (966), and Corlett fourth (944). Thanks go to the boys for their commitment, to our parents for their support as always, and staff for dedicating their time to officiate. TERM 1 HIGHLIGHTS- BRONZE FINISH FOR GIRLS’ COLLEGE FIRST XI HOCKEY TEAM Congratulations to our St Stithians Girls’ College First XI Hockey Team for their achievement at the recent St Mary’s Hockey Festival. It is with immense pride that we share the news that, for the second time in Girls’ College history, the team secured a podium finish, claiming the esteemed third position (silver in 2015). This remarkable accomplishment is a testament of the dedication, skill, and teamwork displayed by each member of the team. Their determination and perseverance were evident throughout the tournament, culminating in victories against formidable opponents. When Chinese contemporary art returns to the almost “holy-ground” National Art Museum after a few decades, criticism and appreciation can come hand in hand.
