I am so excited about my upcoming adventure around Italy to Sicily. During a six-day journey, I'll be exploring some of the most fascinating and beautiful places in Italy and Sicily. My adventure will begin by flying to Bari, where I can't wait to spend two days exploring Italy's heel and fairytale Trulli. From there, we will catch a slow train to Rome and set sail on the Star Clipper, a tall ship with sails that evokes the essence of ancient travel. I can't wait as I love the art of slow travel and vintage . It will be an awe-inspiring sailing adventure around the stunning Italian and Sicilian coast on a magnificent tall ship @starclipperssailings My thrilling journey starts with sailing around the volcano belt of Sicily, where we'll witness the majestic and breathtaking views of the landscape. We'll also island-hop the very active Aeolian islands, including Vulcano, which was once believed to be the entrance to the underworld by Roman soldiers. Next, we'll stop at Messina in Sicily, where we'll explore the ancient city and take a tour of Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. After that, the ship will set sail for the Amalfi coast, where we'll be captivated by the stunning views of the Italian coastline associated with the glamorous fifties jet set. As a big fan of this era I can't wait. Later on in the trip there's the chance to take trips to the islands of Capri and Ponza, surrounded by turquoise waters and lush greenery. And for culture vultures there's historical excursions when dock at Sorrento for the lost city of Herculaneum and Pompeii, to discover the ancient remains of a city buried in ash. Finally, the ship will sail back to Civitavecchia and onwards to Rome. This will be an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to begin my adventure that combines history, culture, and stunning natural scenery. Proposed as an April Fool’s joke in which I announced I was taking a knitting business trip and making an appearance for fans in my hometown Baltimore. The following day, I announced the truth: that I was taking a trip to Italy, which happened. Did the finishing touches of it sitting in that location in front of a reporter. Course 5 sails to Iles Mangan, off the coast of the St. Lawrence. The St. Lawrence River is a unique site, where throughout the French regime (1534-1763), shipwrecks show the lengthy history of navigation down the river. It has been a path for exploration, a route of transport, settlement, and a place for trade and development. The route was known as perilous and difficult, and sailors did not venture out on the St. Lawrence at nightfall, at the start of May or after the end of November. We will be sailing through Iles Mangan on Course 5, our final summer course for the summer, running from August 24th-September 2nd. Some of the best memories I’ve had on these boats have been aloft in the rain. I’m the one that’s sitting in an uncomfortable looking splits, a pair of load bearing clips attached with my weight on them - and another pair of back up clips in case the first pair breaks. I was working to attach the Fish Stay, which was giving me a hard time. We ended up being able to attach it 5 hours later - after fiddling and moving the masts closer together (the fish stay goes between the two masts). By the end of the day, it was bright and sunny! Next few weekends will be full of rigging, lots of sails, booms, spars, and tidying. A busy next month ahead! #sailtraining #tallships #playfair
