Chef @phirooza, the mastermind behind the decor and the food at Fia's, is an absolute sweetheart who knows how to put you at ease. She and her adorable family move around the tables, conversing with guests and making them feel like their own. The staff here is also equally friendly and helpful. Coming to the food, it is brilliant - we had a delightful meal here and are definitely going back for more. The perfectly made Beetroot Croquettes, Patra Ni Paneer, Dhanshak, Kathal Na Farcha, Bhaji Nu Mini Cutlet, Lagan Nu Achaar, Parsi Falooda and Persian Ice Cream thrilled our tastebuds. The Chef's personal touch is very evident in the food, something that I admire in a restaurant. Everything tasted home-style, simple yet flavourful. I don't use the term 'hidden gem' loosely, but I want to for this place. Fia's Lounge is 2 years old, and has a steady stream of loyal customers trickling in. Irani Cafe Chai ð This beauty has recently started its business in Chembur. The owner has been very successful in maintaining a traditional decor and menu. The cafe has been furnished with very simple chairs while the tables are, I believe, comparatively smaller. They have installed huge mirrors which is also an important feature of an Irani Cafe. I was most impressed by the lights and the blue chandelier that hung from the ceiling. What took my attention, was a billboard that had some rules written on it. They mentioned that they're sorry but they shall not allow a list of 21 things which included "bargaining", "brushing", "telephones", "newspapers", "chewing gums under the table", "talking to the cashier". The cafe has limited staff besides having limited dishes on menu too. The behaviour of the staff was gentle and they had a very quick service although I must compliment that all the items we ordered tasted very fresh. The cafe was a rather quiet one and I liked that they do not believe in playing music in the background. There were mostly families who dined there and all the tables had quiet conversations. Coming to the food, we ordered IRANI BLACK TEA which was served with mint leaves and lemon, the tea tasted basic. My mother ordered an ice cream soda, which was served in the bottle itself and she said it reminded her of her childhood. We ordered The Famous: BUN MUSKA which is a sweet bread with a lot of butter, and honestly, I liked the taste very much, it felt very light to my taste buds. While I savoured my PANEER BHURJI which was very fresh, soft and had very little oil in it, my sister enjoyed CHICKEN AND CHEESE STUFFED DOUBLE EGG OMELETTE, the omelette has a heavy stuffing which is very fulfilling for anyone who orders it. I had also packed a BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE because it looked and tasted so fresh! There were two factors which I loved about the cafe: how minimalist the decor is and the lack of hype or going by the trend, their effort in maintaining the roots and serving the best only. Pocket pinch: the price of every item there is very rational and it would not cost more than 1000 for 3 people. Recommendation: must visit with friends/family
