Marvellous Monday ❤️ It hasn’t been too marvellous around here as Daisy has been ill.. There’s so much sickness about at the minute.. So over this last week I’ve been trying to get her better as she flies to Spain for a school trip- so it’s a very early start here this morning.! Wonderful Wednesday 💛 Every week I’ve been highlighting my candles and giving a brief description and talk about them… This week it’s my Mournes Candle.. Last Christmas was my first ever craft fair and what a beautiful one it was at the gorgeous @montaltoestate It was like a romcom Christmas movie.. everywhere you looked it was absolutely stunning … I was all set up at my stand, trying to blend in with all the other professional craft people- trying to look as if I did these craft fairs all the time, my brand new tablecloth and bum bag gave me away though.. I thought I was absolutely amazing with my handmade soywax candles… I was Jack Malone.. On my table I had displayed Murlough, Tollymore, Tyrella and a Christmas one called Winter Wonderland.. This was going to be the first time that I was able to see people’s reactions to the smell of the candles and the feedback was great.. A lot of people you see had been purchasing them online based on what they were called.. So it was so lovely to see people lift them, smell them and agree they smelt like the place they were based on and love them ❤️ I was so happy and then there it was, not just once but a few times.. similar to what my Dad had asked me a few months earlier.. “Have you done a Mournes one yet.?” 😂 🙈 So after that I started to think about the beautiful Mournes which are never very far from here in this part of County Down.. Then it struck me the yellow gorse or whin bushes as they’re also known.. They smell of coconut..so that’s how the gorgeous Mournes candle came about.. Terrific Thursday ❤️ The weather has been so beautiful this week.! I’ve actually worn sandals pretty much every day 🩴 It’s really is lovely to see people wear shorts.! 🩳 Although I’m not brave enough just yet.! Sitting pretty on the beach at Murlough are my handmade soy wax candles.. This really is my favourite spot and the name of the first candle I made.. These are lovely gifts for teachers.. I can organise them to be posted to you or you can collect and they’ll be ready for you in a gift bag 🎁 From left is The Mournes which smells of coconut to represent the yellow gorse or whin bushes that can be found growing there 🌼 Tyrella is fresh and beachy with a slight hint of perfume scent 🌊☀️ Murlough is the lightest fragrance of them all and is fresh and salty, just like the beach 🌊☀️ Tollymore is a heavier scent of beautiful fir trees just like a forest 🌲🦌 Whiterocks Beach is another beautiful fresh one and smells of sun cream and summer holidays ⛱️☀️🌊 If you’re interested in any of them get in touch. Terrific Tuesday 💙 This day last week I met the fantastic @paulmoanephotographer at Murlough Beach. We were blessed with an absolutely gorgeous day… It was so warm I actually got sunburnt.! When I got home, I had just popped the kettle on and then I could hear hailstones starting to pelt down on top of our roof and then when they stopped it started to snow ❄️ We were so lucky to have gone in the morning and missed all of it. I truly love this spot, there really isn’t anywhere like it for me. To be on Murlough Beach on such a gorgeous day and to capture the candles where I got inspired was amazing. It was actually a bit emotional.. Thank you to the lovely people who came over to chat and ask what we were doing and smelt the candles, you were so kind and lovely with your feedback and good wishes 🙏🏻 Thank you Paul, you are an amazing photographer and I appreciate you capturing them so well. Marvellous Monday ❤️ I hope you had a good weekend. We had a busy one here with my daughter’s formal. Just 🤎 this image by #paulmoanephotographer of one of the archways on the north facing wall of Old Mill House. The archway originally framed big wooden doors 🚪in the 1830s, possibly leading into stables 🐴servicing Craigdarragh Corn and Flax Mill that stood in the garden before being burned 🔥 down in 1867 The 1930s renovation converted the stables into living quarters by bricking up the archway 🧱 inserting two 18 pane sliding sash windows and creating a library to quirky effect! Because Old Mill House is a Grade B1 listed building our restoration will have to give serious consideration to the conservation rather than replacement of these windows ...even the Crown glass with its distinctive sparkle and slight distortions will have to be carefully removed pane by pane, cleaned and returned to the frame so they may last another 100 years!! #LoveHeritage #NIHeritage #UlsterFolkMuseum, #ListedBuilding #VisitAND #Restoration #Bangor, #conservation #restorationproject #heritagebuildings #listedbuilding
