Rules in photography—like in any art form—are meant to be broken but there are of course guidelines that you can follow and take reference from. Here are 4️⃣ easy tips that I commonly use when I am shooting. Do you use any of these and what’s your unique trick? 👇🏻💡 The beauty of photography is that I can keep experimenting with the techniques, mix them up, and create my own! #photographyeveryday #photographytips #photographylovers #photographytipsandtricks #photographyforbeginners #photographytips101

Your photos can do it all - create a stunning visual, tell a story and reflect your creativity. The trick is breaking it down (one camera technique at a time)🧱 before you build it up 📸 👉Today, I'm sharing 3️⃣ tried-and-true steps that have transformed my approach to capturing stunning photos. Let's dive in 👇 1️⃣ Colour Theory: Have you ever wondered why certain colour combinations evoke specific emotions? Understanding colour theory helps me craft visual stories that resonate with viewers. By leveraging the psychology of colour, I can convey mood, atmosphere, and narrative in my photos. 2️⃣ Perspective > Composition: While composition is crucial, perspective adds depth and dimension to your shots. Experimenting with different angles and viewpoints can breathe new life into your photography, offering fresh and captivating perspectives that elevate your compositions. 3️⃣ Embrace Bokeh: Ah, bokeh – the dreamy, out-of-focus background that adds a touch of magic to any photo. Shooting at a wide aperture allows me to achieve that coveted blur, drawing attention to my subjects and creating a beautiful separation between foreground and background. If you’re done trying to keep up with overwhelming photography jargon and complicated theories that stop you from taking your first photo, then you’re ready for the 'Photography Foundation Course'! Ready to incorporate game-changing techniques into your own photography journey? 👉Simply, comment 'photo' and I'll DM you a link to join! Let's continue to grow and capture unforgettable moments! 🌟 . . . . . . #photographytipsforbeginners #photographytips101 #photographycoaching #photographycoach #photographyeducation #photographycourse #photographycourses #photographycourseonline #learnphotographyskills #learnphotographyonline #PhotographyPassion #womenphotographers #womenphotographerscommunity #onlinephotography #onlinephotographycourses #aspiringphotographers

The MAGICAL (composition) tool to shoot WOW photos everywhere… 🤌🏻 - Composition Tip 7/8 Whenever I am shooting especially outside, one “trick” I use to get good photos is…FRAMING. Framing simply means strategically positioning element(s) to be a frame for the subject. Bonus points if these elements are placed between you and the subject, as it adds an additional layer, creating more depth in the photo:) Can you see the framing in the third image too? 📌 So here’s the tip: * Outdoors, you can achieve this by positioning yourself behind a tree, using architectural elements like doors, or creatively incorporating people… (these are just 3 of the things you can do)
 * Similarly, indoors (think restaurants), look for objects to place between you and your subject: just like I did in the first photo.
👆🏻 even better if the framing element has leading lines;)
IMO it works wonders: it’s like adding that special touch that instantly elevates the image! Shot & edited these photos with @lightroom mobile. #MadeWithLightroom - First photo: @lao.torino Second and third: took them in Japan.

You don’t need to ask ALL of these questions, but I wanted to give you a few different questions for each stage of your call :) I hope they help spark some more ideas and interesting conversations! – Opening Questions: 1. How is your day/evening/weekend/week? 2. How did he/she/they propose? 3. Follow-up questions from their inquiry form. – Wedding Questions: 1. How is wedding planning going? 2. Where are you in the wedding planning process? 3. Is there anything else you want to know about the way I work? 4. What is your color theme, vibe, style? 5. How do you feel about a First Look? 6. Where is somewhere meaningful for you for your engagement session? 3. How can we make your engagement session meaningful and intentional? – Closing Questions: 1. What’s next on your wedding checklist? 2. What are your plans tonight/this week/this weekend? Let me know if these are helpful in the comments! 👇🏼

When I received this message from @monamobinphotos about my 'How To Shoot A Wedding Guide' I did the biggest happy dance because it is exactly why I created it 🤍 When I started, I was lucky that I could use cameras that Austen had, and I had access to editing suites etc... if I didn't have that, and then was expected to invest $$$ in learning how to shoot a wedding I don't think I would have been able to. That's not to say you shouldn't invest if you can... because things such as my Zoom sessions and Shadow Shooting as SO hands-on you will learn first-hand, and that experience is priceless. – But sometimes we just want something quick and affordable and can bring it out on your phone whenever you need it right? That's why I launched my 'How To Shoot A Wedding Guide' because it tells you all you need to know about how to shoot the entirety of a wedding day but for only $13.80. Just think of it as a mini-me in your pocket for whenever you need that support and your wedding photography tips! If you want to grab it, then you can do it by clicking the link in my bio!

Photographing through glass image: paula rutherford Shooting through glass, or plastic can present some unique challenges, but with the right approach, you can capture great photos. Here are five tips to help you shoot behind glass. Clean the Glass: Before you start shooting, make sure the glass is clean. Use a microfiber cloth and glass cleaner to remove any smudges, fingerprints, or dirt that could affect the quality of your photos. If it is possible, clean both the inside and outside of the glass. Reduce Reflections: Glass can be highly reflective, causing unwanted glare and reflections in your photos. To minimize this, try shooting at an angle to the glass rather than straight on. You can also use a polarizing filter on your lens to reduce reflections, or use a lens hood to shade the lens from direct light. Adjust Your Exposure: Depending on the lighting conditions and the thickness of the glass, you may need to adjust your exposure settings to compensate for the loss of light passing through the glass. Experiment with your camera's exposure settings, (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO )to find the right balance and ensure proper exposure. Use a Lens Hood: If you're shooting in a brightly lit environment, using a lens hood can help prevent lens flare caused by stray light hitting the front element of your lens. Minimize Distortion: Glass can sometimes cause distortion or aberrations in your photos, especially if you're shooting through thick or curved glass. To minimize distortion, try to keep your camera as parallel to the glass as possible and use a wide aperture to keep the entire scene in focus. #photogrpahyskills #photography101 #learnphotography #photographytips101 #photographytipsideas

Photographers talk a lot about having a perfectly exposed image when shooting manual But there are times when under exposing your image is helpful! 🔸 Underexposing your image will help retain the details in your highlights eg: white fur on the dog, bright sky 🔸 Remember that is always easier to pull your shadows up than it is to bring down your highlights 🔸 If your highlights are “clipped” those details are lost, you cannot recover them with editing 🔸 If you have grain in your image after pulling up your shadows on an under exposed image you can use plug ins like Topaz Denoise to fix that grain Don’t be scared to under expose your images to protect those highlights and those gorgeous sunrises!

Sometimes, I just have to spill the tea on some things... ☕️ I think one thing that I was MOST worried about when setting up my business was whether I would get any clients and exactly HOW I would get any clients. I learnt very quickly that it’s not a case of knowing how to get them, but it’s a case of just setting yourself up properly to naturally attract them. So if you aren’t attracting dream clients (or even ANY clients), then it could be something that you are missing out on. We can all take pretty photos with the right knowledge & equipment. But put it this way, if you are a brand selling the BEST chocolate box you can find on the shelves, and the chocolate tastes increddddddibleeee, customers aren’t going to pick it off the shelve if it comes in a plain white box with no details on allowing customers to know about the product. And whilst we all love chocolate, we all have our go-to bars, so if you are new to the space, you need to REALLY stand out on the shelve to be picked. The EXACT same applies to photography. The market is saturated. And whilst I am a big supporter of community over competition, you still need to show your dream clients why they should work with YOU. You need to stand out, even if your photography is the best. And your branding is the way you can do that... *Queue my new program BUILD YOUR BRAND* This 4-week program is a customized crash course for any creative business owner to conceptualize, curate, and implement dream aesthetics and strategy to attract their unique dream clients. This program is curated for all creative business owners wanting to up-level or finesse their brand, not just photographers. In one quick and immersive month together we will focus on curating visually appealing aesthetic branding, including color palette, style, and vibes, to create a cohesive and memorable brand identity + SO much more. Do you need branding for your photography business? Or is your current branding not cutting it? Send me a DM to register your interest and we can chat about all things branding! 🫶🏼

As a wedding photographer & educator I could talk ALLLLL day about the value of hiring someone to help you accelerate your business. I would have done it if it were available to me because I know the value in investing in YOURSELF to have people invest in you. I would have done it if it were available to me when I was starting because I never had that initial community of like-minded people that I could bounce off of for advice and girly photographer meet-ups. I would have done it if it were available to me when I was starting because you get to see the change in the way your clients work with you. The look on their faces when you take them through an up-leveled client experience, or the glowing reviews from your stunning imagery. But, most importantly, I know the value of running your own photography business. How freeing it is to be able to do something you love and be rewarded with love, and success. Running your own business allows you to live your life to the fullest, and carry out your passion daily. And because of that, and how amazing it feels, I know the value of investing into making that a reality sooner than you can ever imagine. So this is your sign if you are reading this, to invest in YOURSELF as a photographer, because you will soon see the rewards flow in – whether that is more dream clients or being completely booked out. If you are ready to take that step, I am here. 🤍
