The e9 tool kit, or clam shell. So fragile. My car didn't have one when I got it, but I found two cases that were worse for wear and performed an isolated restoration to result in one good unit. I disassembled them and used the front of one and the back of the other. I then repaired broken or missing plastic pieces with JB Weld and glass cloth (mainly the wings that attach to the deck lid). New rivets and a fresh coat of SEM interior paint. I found a slightly better foam insert and replaced the white foam pad with new material. Since this photo, I have found more tools. 1978 Datsun 260Z ❤️🔥 Our customer came in to the workshop to rectify a few issues with their vehicle. The first issue being a continual cycle whereby after waiting for the car’s coolant temperatures to be optimal for driving, the car would lack power and die, and refused to start until the temperature was completely cool again. Secondly, the engine exhibited considerable noise following the installation of aftermarket camshafts. Lastly, the brakes were very spongy while also being very hard to come to a complete stop. Upon diagnostics, we found that the car was not getting enough cooling and was borderline overheating. Therefore to rectify the issue, we added an additional two high-quality push electric fans. We inspected the distributor and checked the ignition timing to verify it was accurate. Additionally, we adjusted the valve clearance which aided in the car running at a much quieter noise level. Our team also found that due to the addition of aftermarket cam shafts, the car was unable to create an appropriate amount of vacuum for the brake booster unit. In response, we proceeded to add a vacuum canister and an auxiliary brake vacuum pump unit to assist with the performance of the brakes. Best thing I’ve done so far! Yesterday we changed the OEM clutch for an @advancedclutch Street sprung. This is without doubt the best upgrade so far, it feels like a whole new car - it can actually put down some power now! While we had the transmission off we also replaced the release-bearing and the rear main seal behind the flywheel. To finish the job off, we changed the oil in the trans. It was a busy week detailing BMWs. My 1991 318is got some love with thorough wash, including the engine bay and door jambs. I applied a fresh coat of wax and also hand polished the wheel lips. I wiped down the dash and door panels and finished things off by vacuuming the carpets. update on this nugget 😅 I moved away from my home. So it’s currently in possession of my partner. (Who he has claimed it’s also his now 👀) He’s going to be getting it up and running so he can use it for a bush bash. When I return home early next year I’ll start playing around with it. Modifying it and making it track worthy, new engine ect. Same goes for the 180sx. Nothing will happen to it until I return home. Rover is back home 💙 It's hard to find proper words to describe this madness. Not just roadtrip back home, but whole experience with engine swap. Biggest thanks goes of course to @marrkzo for making it happen. He spent with me so much time trying find a solution best suited to me months before anything actually happened. Then found me a donor, picked it up and even went on a roadtrip with lawetka to pick up Rover at my place. And then of course countless hours he spent not just with engine swap itself, but fixing stuff on Rover. As it turned out, some parts been in much worse shape than we thought and expected. At some points it all looked quite grim and I started to doubt this project will be finished. But here we are with running and driving T16 Rover 200. Now is my turn.
