This girl is proving to be a challenge… a good challenge! She is 3 and has had almost no human interaction. The first day I started working with her she was pretty wild- couldn’t catch her, she’d blow up over everything, very jumpy and hesitant, and extremely untrusting. The last 3 days of working with her all consisted of building trust and gaining respect through groundwork. She needs a lot of patience and reinforcement but I am so pleased with her progress these past few days. She is picking up on things and I can see her really trying to be more thoughtful. Smart Peptos Trophy 🏆 This gal was bought by some big time ropers I know in my hometown from Fischer Farms Too. I’ll have to go back and look but she’s like Color Me Smart on top and Peptos Pretty Pep on bottom! They bought her with the intention of making a futurity rope horse out of her but she didn’t get as big as they wanted for heading during her 2 yo year. She is right around 14.1 or 14.2 and may be a late bloomer or may just not have any more growing in her. Either way I decided to take her and get her started! 2024 Block and Bridle Awards Banquet! Everyone on the team had a wonderful year, showed exponential growth, overcame challenges, and grew as a horseman and a person! That said, we had three year end awards that we presented at this year’s banquet receiving a custom pair of stirrups and a $175 gift card! Bo Tilton received the Top Hand Award for being a top competitor, showing leadership, confidence and humility, and going above and beyond for the team. Britney Iacovetto received the Workhorse Award for always dedicating her time and energy to the team and her horse, and always being there to lend a helping hand. Keira Plymale received the Improvement Award for overcoming challenge with her horse, sticking with it when times were tough, and making great progress over the years. Carrie is officially carrying a microscopic fertilized egg! The plan was for me to bring them home for a week but I opted into just boarding them at CSU until after the embryo transfer. Wi waren gestern zum freien Ranch Trail Training beim PSV Freystadt, erstmal ein großes Lob und Danke schön an das gesamte Team des @ranchhorseteam vom @psv_freystadt. Es ist einfach nur mega toll, was ihr auf deine Beine stellt. Wir hatten eine menge Spaß und konnten diesmal viel am Rind "spielen". Auch wenn Lucky die Arbeit am Rind nicht zu seiner Lieblingsbeschäftigung gehört und gehören wird 😂, akzeptiert er es und bemüht sich sogar - das zählt. Aussage vom Trainer "er macht einen guten Job und denkt mit, aber Freude daran hat er nicht" 😅. Ja gehört auch mal dazu und hat trotzdem rießen Spaß gemacht. Bei den restlichen Hindernissen war Lucky in seinem Element und konnten uns richtig austoben. Einfach mal ein anderer Ausflug zur Abwechslung, auch weil Freystadt von uns nicht weit weg ist. Breeding Update!! 🥳 I took both girls to CSU thinking Id likely have to bring them home, induce ovulation sometime next week, wait a few days, and then bring them back to be bred late next week or the week after. Well, turns out Carrie was 8 days post ovulation and Claire was 4 days post ovulation which is PERFECT! She had a follicle 39 mm so the vet was able give Carrie her shot of progesterone and they suspect she’ll be ready to breed Monday!! They decided to keep both mares on sight since they’re so close to the right time just to make sure they get the timing perfect! They will give Claire her shot of progesterone on Monday so she’s 4 days behind Carrie. I will pick them both up after Carrie’s been AI’d and Claire has officially ovulated. Then 8 days later I’ll take them back and 🤞🏻 hopefully there will be a healthy embryo ready to go into Claire! The vet said both mares look extremely healthy both physically and reproductively speaking! Yay!!!! ⚠️Lil life update on Chet!⚠️READ👇🏻 The family that was pending decided they needed to go a different route so I still have him. Between going on 5 personal trips and 2 trips to Fort Worth to show in the last 6 weeks, school full time, the ranch horse team, and working at a training barn part time, I haven’t worked on any “training” since end of January. I’ve done some ground work here and there and pasture riding occasionally when the weathers nice but nothing mentally demanding. I rode him seriously for the first time again the day before last and he felt amazing! Like he hadn’t missed a day and maybe even better than before. I kind of lost track of advertising him due to life being crazy but will be getting him going again and still planning to sell him. After 4 years out on pasture this sweet girl carried a saddle around like she’d been doing it her whole life! She was started as a 2 yo then put out in a herd of broodmares to have babies. As we enjoy these great shots @cindy_smith_cls51762 captured let’s highlight some accomplishments!!⬇️ This team once again earned the D1 championship and all the riders showed huge growth! They all stepped up and worked their tails off to put together a successful show! Everyone did an amazing job and had some of their best runs yet. Here are just a few of the many outstanding placings we had! -Bo and Carrie swept the limited non pro division taking 1st in all 4 classes with scores between 145 and 153.5 and therefore capturing the all around title as well! -Keira and Grande also sealed the all around win in the novice division with a beautiful reining and cow run putting them at the top of a huge class in both! -Our coach, Morgan and her boy Harry won the open stock horse all around with a tie for 1st in the reining and a gorgeous pleasure pattern! -Kate and her new horse Oscar had their debut show together and had an awesome reining as well as a beautiful pleasure run in the non pro! -Wacey and Spring got the 2nd all around title for the non pro division which included a wicked catch while roping for the cow work! -Piper and her mare Jodi had a great show ending up 3rd overall in the novice class with a huge win in the pleasure and top 10 out of 30 in all classes! -Ashton and Nado showed huge improvement with a 4th in cow work, a 5th in reining, and 5th all around. She also was top 10 in all 4 classes in the novice division! -Britney and her great horse Epic Times won the novice cow work with a sweet 146, got a wicked 146.5 in pleasure for 3rd and came out with a 6th all around! -Mattie and Magic cranked out an awesome reining taking 2nd in that class as well as a 5th in trail and 7th all around! -Morgynne and JayZ showed huge improvement jn the reining placing 4th in the novice division and earned a very respectable 11th overall! I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to attend the Horseman’s Challenge and excited to gain more experience showing! I grew up in the equine and ranching industry while riding horses on my grandfather's ranch and helping him with daily ranch work for his cow-calf production. I also have experience raising and training colts to use on the farm. My educational objective is to expand my knowledge in the horse industry, and I hope to gain an associate degree in Equine Business Management and Horse Training and management at Lamar Community College. I am also a member of the Ranch Horse Team because it will expand my knowledge in the equine industry, advance my horsemanship skills, and provide many essential life skills I can use daily.
