Morning Math 🧮 Did you know that boys & girls NEED movement in order to learn? (Boys more so than girls) This is my academic girl. She loves to do schoolwork & doesn’t like taking off for the weekends lol Phonics & handwriting are done tabletop bc that’s how she works best in that subject area. Math..I’ve realized that she does better when she has space to move. Kids have this natural ability to turn their brains ON with vestibular input, (getting the head out of the upright position). Kids move when they NEED to.. often in public school classrooms, this can get them into trouble. (Or it can get them a diagnosis, or a fidget for their hands which does nothing for vestibular input 😑). This thing is, when kids move they are igniting their best sense for learning. 🤭 By getting their heads out the upright position, they are stimulating the hairs in their inner ears. This turns their brains ON & they are able to learn better this way. So think about this- if my academic girl who I’m sure would be the ideal student for public school (I still wouldn’t send her lol), needs to do couch handstands to do her best math work.. imagine what an antsy boy needs to do his best work? 🤔 Problems with homework? Try allowing movement first/during. Or modify/ditch the homework all together for elementary aged kiddos.
