This photo is from my first solo shoot with Tasia and it was also the first time in a very long time I'd done a natural light shoot (involuntary, I picked up the reflector but not the strobe pack on my way out the door, yay!). This is a bit of a chronological irony given the photo I posted yesterday was also natural light but it was actually taken after this one. Off frame my reflector is being held as a sunshade to provide even shadow on Tasia. Here is a new edit of a shot from my second portrait photoshoot ever (about 18 months ago). This shot is all Andrianna; I wasn't good at the whole shooting portraits (or being comfortable shooting portraits) at the time and the fact that anything good came out of the shoot wasn't due to me. Jamie is a chameleon, disappearing into whatever role she had selected to be for one of her shoots. Last Saturday, we had a quick shoot in the afternoon to try out her Sith Lord concept. It isn't really modeled on any existing character, so we had fun (and I finally, successfully used my fog machine after two years of ownership). . Included in this set is the straight from camera shot this is based on, so for the first time I'm going to include some technical details. The shot was lit by a single studio strobe off camera to the left of me (right of Jamie) that was bounced off a white wall/ceiling in front of her. A red gelled flash sitting on some spray cans behind her to create the glow and a fog machine was running off camera to the right. We used a black paper background. For those who care about the settings, this shot were ISO 100, f/8, 1/125s at 27mm (small studio). And the Elinchrom BRX 500 was at it's lowest setting: 2.3 and the Yongnuo YN600EX-II was at full power. . The Top Hat Demon . I had an amazing night shoot last night with Jade. The wind last night was brutally cold so we ducked into the entrance way on an abandoned building downtown and shot most of the series there. The shoot wasn't really a planned shoot, but we didn't, even when shooting, intend to generate Halloween content; however, Jade, after seeing some of the initial shots, exclaimed "Straight up look like a demon and I love it." I've realised I've fallen a bit behind on posting photos from my summer shoots. Let's start here from a shoot at the end of June. I have returned to this one with two updated edits. The lead photo is a darker B&W mix; it pulls the right kind of skin detail out and causes the pools of light to pop.
