Le récit est clairement celui de fins du monde, et se déroule à une époque où tout a dérapé, où tout a échappé au sacro-saint plein pouvoir des humains, et où perdre ce (celles.eux) qui est cher n'est plus seulement un mauvais cauchemar. Les Déluges ont frappé et la terre est devenue un brasier géant. C'est après une vague de cataclysmes que la narratrice fuit la côte avec Marco qu'elle a rencontré par hasard après que tous deux se soient retrouvés seuls et aient perdu celles qu'ils aimaient. Après avoir investi une maison dans une forêt proche d'un village, ils sont rejoints par Farah, et ses enfants, qui a elle aussi perdu la personne qu'elle aimait, Sam. Tous trois ne savent pas vraiment grand chose les uns des autres, mais ils sentent qu'ils ont en commun ce deuil qui crée en eux un vide abyssal et impossible à combler, impossible à réparer, impossible à effacer. Ce chagrin et cette impression d'avoir été amputé d'une partie de soi sont frappants. Et ces questions obsédantes sont posées : quel niveau d'épreuves, de nostalgies et de regrets est humainement supportable et pour quoi se battre quand on sait avoir, même indirectement, fait partie du gâchis ? Peut-on refaire mieux ? Comment ? En parallèle de l'histoire des humains, il y celle de la "bête", une biche, superbe et majestueuse, qui offre elle aussi son regard sur la Vie, la forêt et ces deux femmes. Les mots de Virginie DeChamplain sont aussi enflammés que l'est son récit, et son roman est une sacrée prophétie, un bel avertissement et un miroir dans lequel observer notre avenir. Jusqu'où accepterons-nous d'aller ? Parce que, nous ne sommes pas sans ignorer que "qui sème le vent récolte la tempête".

De l'origine de la construction des silos jusqu'au mouvement de révolte du silo 18 insufflé par Juliette lors de son nettoyage. Nous retrouvons ce monde à travers les yeux de plusieurs autres personnages. L'architecte, le chef de tous les silos, Mission un jeune de 17 ans présent lors de la première révolution du silo 18 et enfin Jimmy un autre jeune mais du silo 17, 35 ans avant l'arrivé de Juliette par l'extérieur. Nous allons en découvrir beaucoup plus sur ce monde et l'organisation des 50 silos dont le silo 1 (silo chef) avec des technologie dont nous n'avions pas idées dans le premier tome comme la cryogénisation et les nano bots. Enfin la découverte de l'utilité des silos et leur destinés est juste incroyable. 3⭐️ Maybe this author isnt for me 😭 I really wanted to love this. The things that drew me to the story fell flat for me. I was excited that it took place in Santa Cruz but disappointed when the boardwalk was brought up every single time the city was mentioned. Why use a specific place if you're not going to mention anything else. It felt like zero research was done. The main character and I share the same birthday so that was cool.... The vampires were lame. The MMC was the worst vampire I've ever read 😭 The plot was horrible. The ending was rushed and made zero sense. I was promised a vampire mafia romance and this was not it.
