Panorama 🌌 I attempted my first milky way arch panorama a few weeks ago up north, and it has been the most time consuming edit I've ever done to date. There are still some tweaks I'd like to try, but I think we've got something shareable at this point! The image consists of: -10 vertical panels -each panel has 4-6 images that are stacked in starry landscape stacker -those resulting 10 stacked panel images are blended/edited using @lightroom and @photoshop Lessons: -get to the location early, so you're able to scout the best spot for the pano. Use something like @photopills to plan the path of the milkyway -do some trial pano movements with your camera/tripod... I found I was a little off level at the beginning of my shots which *I think* caused great grief in stitching them together -slow down and take your time! Depending on the technique you're using, you may only get 2-3 tries for the pano. As time passes, the arch becomes higher in the sky, which makes it harder to get some sort of foreground element in the scene. Questions, let me know! Black Bears have a very different side profile to the likes of Grizzlies. Their differences in features and profile is the best way to distinguish between the two as a lot of Black Bears can be other colours including brown and even white. The white ‘spirit’ or ‘kermode’ bear is very rare and only found here in British Columbia. Here are a few photos I never thought would make the cut! The picture of the food truck I took while we were driving on the road. I hesitated because I was taking it through the windshield, wondering if it would affect the quality of the image and if that’s what the client would want. I decided to take it because it’s an action shot and somewhat unique to typical landscape photos of the ice road. I’m glad I did because it got picked up by the Winnipeg Free Press AND they used it as their banner image. So cool!!! The next photo was of Juno winner and head of Mushkegowuk Council’s lands and resources department, Lawrence Martin with Adam van Koeverden. I recognised Martin right away but didn’t know his name so I asked Facebook and Moose Factory community came through and let me know who he was and that I recognise him from Gathering of Our People! I flew up in the same charter as Adam so I knew he was a Member of Parliament and for this trip he was acting as Secretary to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. The conference hadn’t begun so I wasn’t sure about this one but everyone was crowded around taking pictures of Martin and Adam holding the banner up so I snagged a quick shot just in case. I’m glad I did because Emma ended up choosing it and the photo of the sign with the bear pelt, antlers, snowshoes, and goose! That one I was just wandering around the school unsure of what to take pictures of when nothing was going on 😂🤣 So I guess the lesson is, trust your instincts, and shoot everything because you never know which images will get picked!! #indigenous #swampycree #moosecree #kashechewan #fortalbany #jamesbay #photojournalism #canoncanada
✨Day 253 - April 19th, 2024 - Late night editing to try to keep up 🙃 it’s really sweet to see my Messier chart starting to really fill out. I struggled a bit with editing, I forgot a step with the first edit of M105 so I had to remember to run the rest of the stacks through colour calibration. Images: -The first slide is the edit of M35, located in Gemini, 22x30sec, darks used. I didn’t have to do too much while editing to bring out the bit of colour. I’m happy with it for the few exposures used -The second slide is the second edit I did of M105 in Leo, I remembered to use colour calibration for this one 🙃 38x30sec, darks used. M95 and M96 where also in frame 🙌 -The third slide is the zoom in on the galaxies -The fourth slide is the edit I struggled with because I forgot to do one of the first steps of colour calibration -The fifth slide is the edit of M102 located in Ursa Major, 15x1min, darks used. It turned out okay but it could use more exposures -The sixth slide is the zoom in -The seventh slide is of M108 and M97 from March 23rd, really wishing I moved up the framing to get them better, 51x30sec, darks used. As I see lately, my audience is growing and I want to get to know each other. I’ll tell you a little about myself. I’m Maria, I’m 29 years old, I emigrated from Ukraine when the war began, first I lived in Denmark for about 7 months, and then in Germany for about 6 months. I worked as a web designer in a Swiss IT company. Photography has always been with me, I have been taking pictures since my youth, from the age of 14, when I went on trips to the cities of Ukraine with my class. At that time I even had my own film camera. I started taking photographs professionally from college. Then I had a Chinese smartphone and I photographed the cityscape, an still life photography on my phone, and my friends and classmates. When I graduated from university in 2019 and received a master’s degree in law (yes, you heard it right, I’m a lawyer by training) I managed to buy my first camera with a large lens. And I started taking pictures of everything around me to find my style, what I like in photography. Then I started buying different vintage lenses that give beautiful patterns in photographs. I studied photography and how to photograph people, watched videos on YouTube, read books about photography and went to various masterclasses and trainings, often attended photo meetings and photographed models for free. I organized the shooting myself, as well as staged shooting of still life photography. I was even lucky enough to participate in an international photo competition. Then the war burst into our lives and I was forced to take a break, because creativity comes from the soul, from my state and mood.. I continued my work as a web designer. This is the only thing that kept me afloat and helped me survive. Now, 2 years after the start of the war, I meaningfully and confidently understand that without photography my life will not be so interesting, rich and bright, so I am returning. I am glad to welcome you to my page. I will be glad to see your filming bookings and communication.

En observant le travaille d'autres talentueux photographes, j'ai appris ce qu'était les "bokeh". Ce sont des points de haute lumière qui sont en dehors de la zone de focus, plus ils sont loins du focus, plus ils sont gros. Ça peut être des lumières de ville, les dernier rayons du soleil filtrés au travers des feuilles ou même le reflet du soleil dans l'eau. L'autre matin, je suis allé à un parc où je sais qu'il y a des canards branchus avec une idée en tête : travailler me shots avec des bokeh. Je suis arrivé là un peu après le lever du soleil. Quand je suis arrivé aux étangs, les canards n'étaient pas là. J'ai quand même décider me m'assoir sur le bird de l'étang et d'attendre un peu. 2 minutes après, un couple est arrivé en volant. J'ai tout de suite arrêté de bouger pour ne pas les effrayer. À ma grande surprise, ils ont commencé à se rapprocher de moi !! J'étais tout excité.
