Love Gathers Here. I have this posted in the entry of our home. Over the weekend we flowered for two lovely couples. The flowers pictured here are from a celebration @northandnavy Music played and a whole team of friends worked to make food, roast a pig, move furniture, wash floors, hang curtains, and fill the restaurant and it’s charming patio with flowers. Over the past few months I’ve really noticed just how giving and helpful people are for those they care about. They travel great distances and work late into the night creating for these special celebrations of love. It is a gift. I am tired… but extremely grateful to be part of these special times. It’s a rainy day here in Ottawa. Our town is still cleaning up from the storm last week. Life goes on. Storms rage, but my spirit rests secure. Thankful for Home and Friends and grateful for everyone who worked hard to get the dahlias and seeds planted in the flower field. Irrigation systems are installed and ready thanks to sons home from school due to the power outages. This past week has been a confirmation that everything works out! For Gerianne. We don’t usually take on a wedding on Mothers Day weekend, but we made an exception for this one. Due to the times we live in, I never met this bride in person. We connected online and on the phone, and when we delivered the flowers to the church our team was met by a friend of a family. This kind lady held the door open as we brought in abundant bouquets… our Growing Gardens for each of the windows and a large arrangement to grace the alter. She was kind and helpful, as most church ladies are, and once we got it all set up she exclaimed that we had created a look that was “just Gerianne!” Looking forward to all the celebrations this year! Happy May Day! Thinking way back to when my sisters and I where small. We would make May Day baskets out of colourful construction paper or Paper Lace and fill them with blooms from the gardens. We would sneak over to our neighbours houses and hang them on the door knob, ring the bell, and run and hide. We even did this to our own mother! Times haven’t changed all that much. We still all have our hands in the dirt, growing flowers, and sending them out for all sorts of occasions. Giving flowers never gets old. We are still taking orders for Mothers Day!
