Again... What would I do without friends? @driesbessels is a handy person with All the necessary tools in his wood shop. I took some old plywood and presented myself at his place. In a few hours hè managed to make these raw wooden boxes to fit over the wheel arches or the Ducato. Back at the @badboy.nl place I tricked Joey Lukas to help me out for the final fitting. One box has a large storage and the other got Cup Holder and a isolated Mini Cooler. Still need to connect the drainage hose so it ends somewhere outside the van. All made from #recycled materials. The cup holder and the cooler came out of the #MarkIV #Dodge #RamVan (R.I.P.) we used on the previous roadtrips in 2023. The wood was salvage material from our warehouse #wastenotwantnot The red pulls are made from a cheap tie-down we got with a bike ramp... Under the old oak tree. This is a pile of single use plastic bottles I have collected over one year from the domestic household waste. Even if all of the bottles were to be recycled and 70% reused there is still a huge amount of waste going to land fill. This material is going to be used in my latest work to highlight our modern day relationship with water and how we commodify it and how we abuse it. One for me! 💛 . I was given some very special, sentimental jewellery a little while ago. A couple of pieces I’ve barely taken off since the day I received them. . Amongst a bag of costume jewellery there was a little 9ct gold earring, a sort of twisted knot, very 80s! 🪩 It had been kept safe, even though its partner had been lost, no doubt many years ago. So, I set about melting and repurposing the gold to give it a new lease of life. And this little necklace is what was born. I love it so much, and haven’t taken it off since the minute it came out of my tumbler. 🧡 It’s really tactile and every time I fiddle with it, I think of the earring’s owner - I think she’d approve. ❤️ . I love remodelling, it’s a road I’d really like to go down.
