Three things- #1. Crème Brûlée Phlox She's gorgeous, but a little tricky to get a good stem length. I learned from @flowerhillfarmny to keep pinching my phlox, and it worked like a charm! Buuuuuut, the thing I neglected to do was net my phlox. If I'm being honest, I didn't net ANYTHING last year. I wanted to let things grow on their own without support to see what actually needed netting as it can be a pain to deal with. First sunflower of the season is peaking its little self out! Fun fact, we plant about 1500 of these every week. That’s a lot of sunflowers for the season since we start end of March and go through September. It's always a little sad when flower stems break when you're making a design. Every stem is precious whether you grew it yourself or purchased it. My strategy is to have a collection of vases that can accommodate all the broken or short stems. This first vase was from the thrift store. It's rectangular and very low to the table. Perfect for making a more substantial arrangement with shorties. Of course I also have a big collection of bud vases that can accommodate a few stems each. These are perfect to spread around the house to add color and joy wherever you may be.

The clematis have come into flower and it’s a beautiful sight, cascading over the perimeter fence to the herb garden 😍 We’ve planted lots of new herbs in the herb garden too, which was looking a bit neglected towards the end of last year. We finally bit the bullet and got rid of some lower growing perennial herbs that weren’t earning their keep.
