Within one month, despite and in spite of all the anti campaign (yeah, I got that brekete clip like a million times), over 3 million girls have been vaccinated.- safely and happily. We commend the efforts of the Nigerian health team @fmoh_nigeria and our partners @gavialliance @unicef_nigeria. To end cervical cancer, equitable access to treatment means ensuring that all women, regardless of their socioeconomic status, geographic location, or other factors, have access to the necessary medical care to prevent, detect, and treat cervical cancer. I spent my day at an oncology meeting very far away. 🕸️ Das Speak Up! Netzwerk 🕸️ Die interdisziplinäre und internationale Vernetzungsstelle Speak Up! ist im Juni 2022 aus dem gleichnamigen ostbelgischen Bündnis hervorgegangen, das sich im Herbst 2020 gegründet hatte und am Eupener Institut für Demokratiepädagogik (@idp_ostbelgien) angesiedelt. Mittlerweile ist einiges passiert: Nach drei Tagungen (jeweils im Oktober 2021, 2022 und 2023) und einem Buch (herausgegeben von @s.a.kirschner und @tomkelask und erschienen im August 2023) ist das Netzwerk der Vernetzungsstelle mittlerweile auf 16 Institutionen und 26 Einzelpersonen aus nunmehr 9 Ländern (🇧🇪, 🇪🇬, 🇧🇬, 🇩🇪, 🇬🇪, 🇮🇳, 🇮🇹, 🇨🇦, 🇦🇹) auf 4 Kontinenten angewachsen. Ein Großteil der Mitglieder wird gemeinsam mit Menschen aus der ostbelgischen Zivilgesellschaft und Teilnehmer*innen der Speak Up! Tagungen aus Wissenschaft und Praxis nun im Speak Up! Lab am zweiten Buch arbeiten. Nach und nach stellen wir nun diejenigen Personen und Organisationen vor, die mit der Vernetzungsstelle verbunden sind. Heute geht es mit Kaleido weiter, einem Gründungsmitglied des ehemaligen Bündnisses und der daraus hervorgegangenen Vernetzungsstelle. Bei der ersten Tagung, die im Oktober 2021 im Heidberg stattgefunden hat, war Kaleido mit mit Tabea Weihnmann (Vortrag und Tischgastgeberin) und Fabio Lesuisse sowie Yvonne Kemper vertreten. Alle drei waren auch am ersten Buch beteiligt. Gemeinsam mit Gaby Zeimers vom Medienzentrum, Ramona Mausen von der @jugendinfo_ostbelgien und Anton Vereshchagin vom @wegweiser_ostbelgien haben sie den Beitrag "Mentale Gesundheit — unser interner Schutzschild gegen Fake News und Hate Speech" verfasst. The universe of “fake news” is much larger than simply false news stories. A kernel of truth may exist in certain stories, but no supporting information is provided. They might not contain any credible sources or reliable facts. Certain stories might contain simple, corroborated facts, but they might also purposefully use provocative language, omit important information, or provide only one side of the story. Within a broader ecology of misinformation and disinformation, there is "fake news." Fake news have been defined differently by authors however, the forms in which fake news could appear has been the main point of diversity. Fake news can be in form of Photo Manipulation, News Fabrication, News Parody, News Satire, Propaganda. Study of the various topography of fake news reveals the intent of each form mentioned above despite not all are focused on misinformation, fake news ultimately mis- and disinforms. Fake news have spread widely on social media in recent years, in part because to how simple and fast they are to disseminate online. Seyi was head of the City Boy Movement, a massive grassroots youth organization that penetrated every nook and cranny of Nigeria, bringing out the vote. He was our MVP in the campaigns - a roving midfield maestro who played all positions well, and marshaled Nigerian youths to vote for his father with a commitment and dexterity hitherto unseen in any soon-to-be presidential offspring in the history of politicking in Nigeria. This was during the most grueling seasons of campaigns for the 2023 Presidential Elections. We flew private jets all over and the schedule was so tight that rest was where and how you found and snatched it. Schon ist auch der 3. & letzte Tag der 3. Speak Up! Tagung & des 1. Speak Up! Labs vorbei! Begonnen hat es wie gestern mit der Begrüßung durch Sabrina Kirschner (🇧🇪), die die Vernetzungsstelle Speak Up! leitet sowie IDP-Leiterin Tomke Lask (🇧🇪). Danach standen Fake News aus literaturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive auf dem Programm. Shailesh Kumar RAY (🇮🇳) begann mit Literaturtheorie und wandte diese kurz auf 'Corpus Delicti' von Juli Zeh an. Im sehr anschaulichen Vortrag von Simon PRAHL (🇩🇪) ging es um die propagandistische Instrumentalisierung von Michael Kohlhaas im Nationalsozialismus. Im folgenden Panel standen Fake News & Hate Speech im Dokumentarfilm auf dem Programm. Tomke LASK (🇧🇪) zeigte eindrücklich, wie man mit dem vor kurzem entstandenen Dokumentarfilm Konsensverschiebungen (über das gleichnamige Werk von Wolfgang Delnui) über Radikalisierungsprozesse in der Europäischen Union ins Gespräch kommen kann, ein Thema, das derzeit leider aktueller denn je ist, wie wir auch schon an den vorherigen Beiträgen gesehen haben. Sabrina KIRSCHNER (🇧🇪) nutzte den Dokumentarfilm (S)innfluence your World als Ausgangspunkt für die Vermittlung kompetenzorientierte politischer (Medien)Bildung und verdeutlichte dabei, dass sich bei Unterrichtsbausteinen zu Fake News & Hate Speech durchaus auch der Blick in die Vergangenheit lohnt, um gemeinsam mit den Schüler*innen Diskriminierung- und Ausgrenzungsmuster zu erkennen. Nach der Mittagspause Aleksandra zeigte Aleksandra ONISZCZUK (🇵🇱) anhand der Berichterstattung über das Pogrom in Kalisz wie man multiperspektivisch und mit authentischen Quellen in verschiedenen Sprachen historische Fake News und die Absichten dahinter entschlüsseln kann. Florian GASSNER (🇨🇦) berichte, wie er bayerische Schüler*innen für den Umgang mit Antisemitismus sensibilisiert und dabei den Bogen von historischem Antisemitismus zu aktuellen antisemitischen Diskursen schlägt. Zuletzt berichteten Tinatini MEBURISHVILI und Miranda GOBIANI (🇬🇪) wie sie mit ihren Deutschstudierenden über Tabuthemen arbeiten. Kaum zu glauben, dass der erste Tag der 3. Speak Up! Tagung & des 1. Speak Up! Labs schon vorbei ist! Es war ein wirklich sehr spannender Tag mit jede Menge Input und bereichernden Diskussionen. Begonnen hat alles mit der Begrüßung durch IDP-Leiterin Tomke Lask und Sabrina Kirschner. Es folgte die Einführungssession ins Lab, bei der wir uns mit Sabrina Kirschner (🇧🇪), die die Vernetzungsstelle leitet, die Entwicklung von Speak Up! angeschaut haben. Aus dem kleinen ostbelgischen Bündnis ist mittlerweile eine interdisziplinäre und internationale Vernetzungsstelle geworden, die nach der Tagung hoffentlich auch weiter wächst :) Danach haben wir von Christina Quast (🇩🇪) einen Einblick bekommen, wie Faktenchecker*innen arbeiten, ehe wir uns dann sehr ausführlich und aus verschiedenen Perspektiven mit dem Thema Hass in der Gesellschaft befasst haben. Isabella Ferron (🇮🇹) hat uns mit ihrem Vortrag mit in die Welt der Politolinguistik genommen, ehe wir dann von Günter Bressau (🇩🇪) eine kurze Einführung in das europäische Erasmus+ Projekt Report_Hate bekommen haben. Am Nachmittag fand dann mit ihm und seinen Projektpartner*innen, nämlich Tomer Aldubi von Fight Online Antisemitism (🇮🇱), Andrea Cox von DigiQ (🇸🇰) und Giovanna La Gala von Udruga mladih Mladi u EU (🇭🇷) eine Panel-Diskussion statt, bei der wir über die Chancen und Herausforderungen von Meldemöglichkeiten für Hate Speech diskutiert haben. Abschließend hat Jana Freis (Deutschland) sehr praxisnah und lebendig über das Alltagsgeschäft der Meldestelle REspect berichtet und gemeinsam mit uns verschiedene Paragraphen interpretiert. Und vielen der Teilnehmenden war klar, dass Meldestellen sehr wichtige und wertvolle Arbeit leisten und wir in Ostbelgien eigentlich auch eine bräuchten… Zwischen den einzelnen Vorträgen hatten wir Zeit, uns informell auszutauschen und mehr über die Arbeit der jeweils anderen zu erfahren.
