INDYCAR, BARBER PARK: PENSKE FA DOPPIETTA CON MCLAUGHLIN E POWER, HERTA NUOVO CAPOCLASSIFICA Il Team Penske ha dominato il Gran Premio dell’Alabama, terza tappa della stagione 2024 del campionato IndyCar, con Scott McLaughlin che ha conquistato la vittoria in una gara ricca di colpi di scena e sorpassi. La corsa è stata caratterizzata da un ritmo elevatissimo e da numerosi avvicendamenti al comando, con ben dodici piloti diversi che si sono alternati in testa alla corsa. McLaughlin è stato il grande protagonista del weekend, dominando le qualifiche e conducendo la gara per ben 58 giri. Il pilota neozelandese ha mostrato un passo eccellente e una gestione perfetta delle gomme, resistendo agli attacchi degli avversari e conquistando la sua seconda vittoria stagionale. Al secondo posto si è classificato Will Power, compagno di squadra di McLaughlin in Penske, il quale ha ottenuto un piazzamento importante che ha gli ha permesso di portarsi al secondo posto in classifica generale. TEAM PENSKE BEATS THE ALLEGATIONS AND WINS THE ALABAMA GRAND PRIX!! They go 1-2, with Scott McLaughlin getting a MUCH-NEEDED win after being a part of the DQ, and Will Power coming home in 2nd. Ganassi's Linus Lundqvist rounds out the podium. - I missed the first 5 laps of the going because I overslept, but I tuned in just in time because the paranoia that began the race was still going on!! There was a crash at the start of the race, and the first yellow came out on lap 5 for a car in the wall. The rest of the day featured incredibly close & hard wheel-to-wheel racing. Even some inanimate objects got in on the fun, as a mannequin from an overpass fell onto the track and got hit. As for the strategy, as I predicted it was all over the place. Thing is, with 5 laps to go a caution came out for the Christian Rasmussen machine spun in front of several cars. Luckily no damage was done, and the finish was completed under green. By this point the Penske duo were already in the lead, as they ran up front all-day long. I wish I could go in-depth but with sleeping in late & having the NASCAR race on at the same time, I couldn't spend the time needed to dedicatedly pay attention to this race. - Speaking of which, the NASCAR race from Dover is still going on!! But I am not impressed with Josef’s response. Or McLaughlin’s. I was a little surprised to hear Hinch say every driver would have used it if they had it. i don’t believe that. PETERSBURG Oltre un mese fa l’IndyCar ha aperto la stagione 2024 con la gara di St. Petersburg in Florida, ma nonostante la distanza temporale si è verificato un colpo di scena. Le vetture di Josef Newgarden, Scott McLaughlin e Will Power dopo le prove per la motorizzazione ibrida avevano ancora nel loro software la versione modificata dell’opzione del Push-to-Pass, un dispositivo che premendo un pulsante incrementa la potenza erogata dal motore, con la modifica che eliminava il blocco della stessa nelle fasi di Safety Car. Dei tre Newgarden e McLaughlin lo hanno utilizzato in fase di ripartenza mentre Power no, cosa che ha portato alla squalifica dei primi due dalla gara e alla penalizzazione di 10 punti per il terzo. Il ritardo nella decisione è figlio della scoperta del misfatto avvenuta solo durante il fine settimana di Long Beach appena concluso. Esta mañana se dio a conocer que el equipo Penske habría sido penalizado por infringir los parámetros del push to pass en el Gran Premio de St. Petersburgo celebrado el domingo 10 de marzo. En consecuencia a esto, Josef Newgarden y Scott McLaughlin, quienes habían obtenido el primer y tercer lugar en la primera fecha del campeonato, fueron desclasificados, mientras que Will Power, quien había acabado en la cuarta posición; recibió una penalidad donde le quitaron 10 puntos. Además, acabó heredando el segundo lugar tras la desclasificación de sus compañeros. La violación habrían sido descubierta el domingo 21 de abril durante el warmup del callejero de Long Beach.
