I felt like doing a collective pull for the energy shift today as Venus stations direct and Mercury goes retrograde. You all feeling it? The playing cards predate the tarot, in fact originally the tarot was just another form of playing card! But the tradition of cartomancy, divination by playing card, is much older than divination with tarot cards. It’s often that I get a comment like “but where are the major arcana?” When I tell people I read tarot using playing cards. You just have the eyes to see it! All 78 cards are there even in a 54 card deck. Their position and placement within a spread is what reveals the arcana. Just as there are 12 phalanges in the finger of every hand, there are 12 face cards in every deck. The sum of the numbers 1 through 12 gives us the mystic number 78. Which demonstrates the intimate relation between astrology, cartomancy and palmistry. All of the mantic arts bleed into one another. A microcosm of a microcosm of a microcosm. Two of my favorite books are “The Art of Gathering” by @priyaparker & “Women’s Circle” by @thegoddessspace 🤍 These books encompass what we try to accomplish with each of our events & are the essence of our values of bringing conscious, intentional wellness experiences 🌀 These photos are from my own gathering transitioning from maiden to mother in my third trimester! I wanted to play up the “death” factor in a positive way, making each person dress in black. We also dressed our faces in butterflies, symbolizing transition. There are so many little ways to bring intentionality to your event, whatever the theme may be!

Following some pushes from my guides I’m beginning to use a tectractys spread and liking it. It’s very detailed but fewer cards than my court room spread. I like the patterns you can trace between the monad card and the elemental cards. Will be interesting to play around with this more.
