Not Hiding My Age, August 22, 2023 Not hiding. Not hiding my age, my acne, or my weight. Certain not hiding my opinions. (Have you met me? Lol!) I want to take a minute to talk about the magic of photography. All of these photos of me have been taken this past week. The first photos were taken outdoors or in natural lighting. If you look carefully, you can see the beads of sweat above my lip from the tropical heat. Iโm also not wearing any mascara on my eyelashes. The next photos are taken, as most of my self portraits are, laying down on the sofa with my used Target floor lamp behind me. I turn in different positions, and move the pillows around me to adjust the lighting. The phone is held above me, and I compose the shot looking away, then look directly at the lens. If Iโm trying to display earrings, I will often put something on my shoulder and cover it with my hair to get it to lay properly. Sometimes I will do a series of shots that, if Iโm able to hold the phone still enough, I can make into an animation. When done perfectly, which is rare, I can hold both the pose and the camera still at the same time, and just move my eyes or my facial expression. I know a little Photoshop, but I only make minor correction to the light and color. I generally donโt retouch anymore as a rule, unless itโs a stray hair or something in the background. Any filters I use are strictly for fun. The last 2 photos of me making faces are straight out of the camera, with no color correction. I shoot on an iPhone 12 Max, but itโs too large for me to take photos easily with one hand, since my hands are not that large. It can be very difficult, frustrating, and even painful for me to shoot one handed.
