#diaryofnamsanhike Though I have been to South Korea 🇰🇷 so many times that I have lost count over a period of 10 years. I have never been to Namsan! So I decided to do it this time. Of course going up with all the slopes and walking is hard but definitely more satisfying than taking a bus/cable car up. 🚌 🚠 And what better timing than to do it in autumn! I started from Itaewon and headed up with the help of Naver map since Googlemap is pretty useless in finding your way by foot in Korea. 😅 I find myself alone at the start of the trail and got a little worried if I should go up. There were more people heading down then those heading up like me, maybe stupid. 😅 Whenever I make a turn and see another huge upslope, the bus option started tickling at the back of brain again! After heading to the Tower, I found the stairs to head down where more people is heading up! But it will be boring to go up this way! Am glad that I did the forest trail and one more little mountain conquered in Korea! What’s next? ⛰️ #namsan #seoulhike #itaewon #hikinginseoul Korea offers so many options of day trip hikes that no camping is required to go to peak! Would be much nicer if the hikers are more friendlier with the habit of greeting each other just like Japan or in the western side.

#북한산둘레길19구간 방학동길 드워프씨의 파이팅을 받아 시작! 난이도는 중 거리 3.1키로 20구간보다는 거리가 길고 계단으로 오르막이 있다. 쌍둥이전망대쪽까지 계단식으로 오르막을 오르면 그 후론 괜찮다. 쌍둥이전망대는 현재 보수공사중. 멧돼지출몰지역이라 문이 있다. 등산스틱 한개의 도움을 받아 3족보행으로 크게 힘들지 않고 19구간을 마쳤다. 산길에서 맡아본 적이 없는 것 같은 향긋한 꽃내음에 코를 킁킁 거려보니 이런 꽃에서 은은한 향기가 나고 있다. 무슨 꽃이지.. #방학동길 마지막 내려가는 곳에 고사리 비슷한 fern 양치식물을 보고 잠시 뉴질랜드를 추억 멀리보이는 #도봉산 Went to hiking again with dad. It was one step difficulty than previous one but i used stick so it was okay to finish the course. There were some steps to go up except that it wasn’t hard. Impromptu trip to Ihwa Mural Village, hike upto Naksan park, watched a random fasion show on the river and back to the hotel to rest now. Seoul has so much to offer and it feels like I am making the most of my time here and still in a way scratching the surface of the culture and lifestyle here. Walking every day makes me feel part of the city as I see many people going to work and taking smoking breaks during work and then enjoying a beer and some fried chicken after work. Also it gives mea chance to bump into some interesting places that I normally wouldn't know exist on my way to some known places. It also help me spend my time here finding various ways people spend their time if not working (sitting near the river with friends, taking pictures of the view or themselves, playing board games with friends, eating, drinking, walking in the park and more). Gimbap and boiled water in a tumbler to make fresh ramen at the top alongside with some makgeolli are favourites however most of large hiking place will have large food choices including street food at the bottom to grab for breakfast or reward meal. Celebrating white christmas as we did our first winter hike. Its was freezing in the early morning when we started the hike -18. But all was well. Last Saturday’s hike was just 🔥 So many experiences in just one day starting from being ditched by @n_inseoul lol (can’t forget forever ♾) And then get some street food at the main entrance, sudden #volunteering to pick up the trashes on the mountain (btw, we didn’t actually do pick up others trash but instead saved ours and brought it down there, smart right). 💬 Thought we might have to quit on the half way through cuz normally it’s a 3,5 hours hike to top and one of the challenging mountain in Seoul. But then we made it under 2,5 hours which is still giving me muscle sores 😭 💬U better be prepared if you are hiking to #dobongsan ⛰ pack your easy food to snack up at the peak and even share it with the stray cats who live up there, most importantly your #hikingshoes ‼️ 📝I once realised that #hiking is like our life stages upon the success or failure! It’s our choice whether to go 🔝 or give up in the middle, choose whether to go through the easy trails or hard ones, ask for friends help when together or relentlessly asking for help from people u just met for the first time! And finally when u make it to the top, now u gotta go back down. It’s your choice whether to stay at that stage for longer and enjoy, or go in hurry cuz time won’t allow it! I can keep talking more but yeah! 💡 U think of it yourself and reminisce about where u reached on your life hiking experience! And as for me, I’m still on my way, just had a tough time but won’t give up here! What holds me strong is the goal I made and motivates me to keep going, while taking some rests when it feels like I can’t breathe anymore! ❤️🩹U too!! This venerable juniper (향나무; hyang-namu) is nearly 400 years old. Its spirit was the guardian of a nearby mountain village. Such village guadian trees are called dangsan-namu (당산나무). It was believed that harming this tree would bring misfortune to the whole village, and as such the tree was venerated as having tutelary power. The village is long gone, but the tree remains.
