I am terrified 😱. Kids can be challenging while taking photos. That is why anything that includes them should be done first. Then, later we can bribe them with some sweets, little candies or doughnuts, no chocolate though 🙈. But the main trick are the parents. You just need to chill. Like really❤️. You need to understand a big difference between photos on Pinterest, Vogue magazines and other photo ideas. Different families, outfits, locations and energy. All kids are the same though. - they are kids, if you are nervous- they will be, if you can’t find the deal and start fighting- it is over. We need to play their game, adjust to their rules a little bit. Sometimes, we need to take that ugly fluffy toy to make your baby happy, or let him to wear the outfits your baby likes the most, if it is a bit problematic to wear what you have in your mood board, ( I hate those wool sweaters that you put on them, they are itchy and not comfortable for kids). Kids are the same as your husbands, have to be fed before and danced in front of prior and while our session.( it always works, just believe me). Drop the importance of the photo session, turn it into a fun adventure, where your husband won’t really need to do anything ( I know the trick and later they don’t want to leave🤣), kids will have fun running around ( and they do, while I am taking photos, because childhood it is mud, running, laughing and being happy). Always ask your photographer for the tips to your successful session. I want you to take some time to consider why you are choosing to hold onto the idea of "it isn't good enough" So what if it isn't perfect? Is anything really, truly ever perfect? Why do you think it needs to be perfect? Are you using your perfectionism as an excuse to not do the thing and put yourself out there? That website that you haven't hit publish on because it isn't perfect isn't doing you any good, when instead you could decide that it is good enough and put it out there into the world. The price list that you have been working, and waiting for the new year to start using is good enough and will start making you more money just how it is. Consider how much money you are leaving on the table for each and every client you decide to not implement your new pricing on. That blog post you have been writing, and re-writing 100x because you are afraid it isn't good enough could have been out there sharing your story and your journey with potential clients already...but instead it is still sitting in your drafts. "My work isn't good enough" "I am just starting out" "My work isn't as good as everyone else" When photographers are setting their pricing they often times wonder if they are good enough to charge thousands of dollars for they portraits. 🚫They feel like they need to start with lower prices. 🚫They feel like they should gradually warm up to charging full price. 👉In all reality, set your prices for where you want them to be in the long term now. Doing this will ensure that you don't have to constantly re-invent your pricing and adjust it each and every year. You see what happens is that as your work gets better- people will invest more in their portraits because they will buy larger portraits and they will buy more images. In the early years you might sell a lot of 16x20's - but over time you will start selling 30x40's and one day even those 40x60's. Struggling to take the leap and invest in your photography business? I asked Charlotte what her advice would be for someone that is in your shoes, "I guess I’m speaking to two people. To the person that is reluctant to invest in education and invest in themselves, I would say to them, you really cannot imagine how badly you need education. To have someone holding your hand via an online course or coaching. You cannot even begin to imagine the amount of growth you would experience just by having that support network. These huge Facebook groups with a few 1000 people in them that aren’t not investing in their education, either can only take you so far. Books will only take you so far, cheap cheat sheets and courses will only take you so far. Having that solid mentorship is what is going to shave months, if not years off the growth of your business. Now I’ll speak to the person that’s already realized they are past the YouTube videos and the free webinars. They’ve already realized that they that they need some form of mentorship or, coaching or something like that. I would say, I did all the classes, I did all the self paced stuff, I did all the things that you go and do on your own. Nothing can replace having a group of people that have got your back and are working alongside you. Having a Facebook community, like the one you have attached to your online courses with the zoom calls, Q&A’s makes a difference.
