3 apps I use in my creative process and why I love them 💛 Procreate - a raster based app I use to draw on my iPad. I love how it saves out PSD (among other files) so the files work well in photoshop. Also the way it draws feels so natural to me - more than the Adobe programmes on the iPad. 💛 Adobe Photoshop - another raster based app I use on my MacBook to tweak, finalise and get illustrations ready for artwork 💛 Adobe Illustration - a vector based app I use on my MacBook to create print ready files on cutter guides and flatlays Whats the difference between raster and vector I here you say? 💛 Raster is image based and made from pixels so can only be scaled up so much before becoming pixelated. These programmes usually have better illustration capabilities (depending on the illustration style) with more brushes and realistic paint/pencil etc like textures. 💛 Vectors are a little more complicated to explain; vector files use mathematical equations, lines, and curves with fixed points on a grid to produce an image. As there are no pixels in vector files and the clever people based them on a maths formula, they can scale indefinitely and keep a crisp clear and precise edge. It being on a grid also helps to make really precise files which are important when going to print and using cutter guides as no one wants something trimmed off when it shouldn't be 🙈 What apps do you use? Happy May!! For me, usually May means the start of wedding season or hosting a workshop…but this year it means it’s baby month🥹🙌🏻 I’m so excited to finally reveal our second baby boy’s nursery! As you can tell I was really inspired by greens and beige…I wanted a look completely different than our Jack’s room. And before we even found out this baby was a boy, I had dreamed of a “forest” theme for this room 🌲. I’m so grateful to my husband, mother in law, and Derek’s best friend for helping us with the board and batten and peel-and-stick wallpaper. This vision couldn’t have come to life without them 🙏🏻 My c-section for baby boy is scheduled in 4 weeks…so whenever he decides to come in the next several weeks, the world as we know it will change forever 🫶🏻 It’s such a surreal feeling. As far as work goes, I have my last engagement session this weekend, then have a few projects to finish before officially going on leave in a couple weeks! Anyone else struggle with self care? I do and the lack of it is kicking my butt! I rarely make time for me and feel like I’m on the go nonstop. Within the last year I finally got the courage to start doing events and I absolutely love it! I love meeting people and seeing them love my work. It brings so much joy and happiness. It’s one of the best feelings in the world. However, my body doesn’t feel the same. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 years ago and put on medication. Now I can’t get that medication, so my body hates it even more. I’m pushing past it because I refuse to let fibromyalgia take this away from me. I just need to learn to do self care more often. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for taking the time in reading. The crochet community has been amazing and pushed me to do what I didn’t think I could! Thank you for that. Surreal. It’s not a win by traditional standards but to be named Australia’s Top 20 Wedding Photographer again is just surreal. Being nominated as a finalist out of 469 eligible photographers Australia wide is a huge deal, let alone being nominated for the past 4 years running! #abiaweddingawards is all about #communityovercompetition us vendors supporting each other because what we do for a living is very different from most people’s 9-5. We pretty much have no weekends to ourselves, work long hours often without food, week days are left for client meetings and editing till all hours but to have our couples appreciate what we do makes it all worthwhile.
