Cottesmore Hunt, 21/12/2019, Belton-in-Rutland with @northantshsa @wildlife.allies *5 sabs assaulted***Hunt members caught digging out a badger sett*** Stewards make threats towards sabs’ families***Hunt blocks roads***Hunt spills onto A47* From the off the thugs paid to beat people up were clearly baying for blood more loudly than the hunt’s hounds. As usual, the hunt’s horseboxes and vehicles were churning up the country road verges. Sabs followed Chris Edwards’ band of wildlife criminals and a very sparse field of riders. Hares and a muntjac were flushed and had to bolt to safety. The huntsman continued to draw hedgerows and hounds picked up on a scent. Excited hounds ran across a couple of fields heading back down towards the road. Teams of Sabs were on hand to rate the hounds. Hounds were gathered back up but the pack were split and the hapless huntsman left at least 10 behind him keeping the whipper in busy. Sadly the stewards with their pound shop armbands were soon attacking sabs and making vicious threats – and that was on a public road. At second horsing the field riders had obviously had enough boredom for one day. Edwards led his dogs and 2 redcoats, minus any field riders south. Events took a really nasty turn as Northants Sabs caught masked terriermen at an extensive badger sett. Male stewards attacked female sabs and police had to be called as the stewards lost control of themselves assaulting any sab in proximity. So once again the hunt’s claims to be acting legally are brought into question. Disturbing a badger sett is a criminal offence. If the Hunt were following a trail as they claim why do they need terriermen and why would they lay a trail right next to a badger sett. Also why didn’t they want the hunt’s actions filmed? The hunt then proved their recklessness and contempt for public safety as they spilled onto the A47. A muntjac fled across the road narrowly avoiding being run over and loose hounds strayed. Undeterred the huntsman carried on drawing scrub by the river. Continued in comments..
